The short answer: Usually… you don’t!

Most cats are excellent self-groomers and keep themselves clean without help. In fact, bathing too often can dry out their skin and cause stress.

Baths are usually only needed if:
• Your cat has a medical skin condition
• They’re older, overweight, or unable to groom well
• They get into something sticky, greasy, or unsafe
• Your veterinarian recommends medicated baths

The doctor checks everything from weight and body condition to eyes, ears, mouth, heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, and joints (to name a few) looking for subtle changes cats are great at hiding. It’s all about catching small issues early, before they become big problems.

Today, Matilda celebrated her 1st birthday in style as she and her "brother" board at Cat Care Clinic while Dr. Alex is traveling for the holidays. The party featured carrot cake (cause humans need treats too) new toys, and cat-safe treats galore. Big brother Neville made the guest list and happily enjoyed some urinary treats of his own.

Safe travels to all those away from home.
