This service is offered in addition to all of our other services, available 24/7, free of charge. Please share to those in need in the St. Louis, MO greater area. We can transport to reasonable area, if needed!
We are currently working on a physical box for people to take and leave what they want, but until then we are offering free food and supplies to families in need via this method.
We also currently have plenty of leashes and collars!

Run free, sweet Sandy girl.

As we had previously posted, over the weekend, Sandy's condition declined significantly. She began exhibiting concerning neurological symptoms witnessed by both volunteers and staff, including staggering, repeated falling, and increasingly random aggressive behavior. After being evaluated, it was determined that her quality of life had deteriorated, and humane euthanasia was the kindest and most compassionate option to prevent further suffering. While we are heartbroken that Sandy did not get the second chance she deserved, we are grateful she was surrounded by people who cared deeply for her in her final days. Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet Sandy, shared her story, advocated for her, or simply held hope that her hero would come. Your kindness meant more than you know, and she was loved until the very end.

Meet RAINIER 🍒🐾…
This sweet boy at CARE STL is looking for someone who can foster him for a minimum of 2 WEEKS so he can get much needed surgery for his cherry eyes and have a quiet, safe place to recover.
He is playful and loves other dogs.. it is said that he would thrive while also building much needed confidence if another dog is in the house. The need to listen to clinic staff on any needs he might need during recovery is crucial, however. This could mean e-collars, medication, site cleaning, and restriction of rough play for a couple weeks. Someone who can monitor the recovery process closely would be ideal.

He doesn’t necessarily need to be a medical foster/experienced foster, just someone who can commit to him for at least two weeks during the recovery process!

💛 Three Superlative Seniors. One Looming Deadline💛

They've spent years giving love.

Now they're hoping someone will give a little back.

Sandy. Don. Chubbs.

Three senior dogs. Three wonderful personalities. Three lives that deserve something so much better than a shelter kennel.

All three need a long-term foster or adopter by July 14. All have sponsrship and pledges.

Sandy (8 years old) lost her home when her owner was hospitalized. Once frightened and unsure, she's now now enjoys quiet walks, treats, and simply being with people she trusts. She needs someone that is experienced with shy dogs and earnng there trust.

Don (10 years old) is looking for a hospice foster, adopter, or rescue. He still loves his walks, adores soft blankets, and greets every bit of kindness with gratitude. His body may be slowing down, but his heart still has so much love to give.

Chubbs (10 years old) is impossible not to love. At 99 pounds, he's living proof that joy isn't measured by age or size. Despite arthritis and a body covered in lumps and bumps, he greets everyone with a wagging tail, a happy smile, adorable tippy taps for treats, and the sweetest sploots you've ever seen. He doesn't know he's considered a senior. He just knows he's ready to love someone.

None of them are asking for years.

They're asking for today.

A soft bed instead of a concrete floor.
A family instead of fluorescent lights.
A peaceful place to spend the chapter they've earned.

The hardest part about loving senior dogs isn't saying goodbye someday.

It's knowing so many never get the chance to say hello to a family one last time.

Please help change that.

Gardenia needs a rescue tag by Wednesday!

From CARE STL:
“Gardenia came to us after she was found sitting on someone's porch, refusing to leave. We don't know what happened before that or how long she'd been on her own, but we do know she arrived at CARE absolutely terrified.

Since then, fear has shaped nearly every interaction she's had in the shelter. When she feels cornered or overwhelmed, she growls, barks, and retreats. It's not because she's mean or wants to hurt anyone. It's because she doesn't feel safe.

But that's not the whole story.

Over the last several days, our staff has seen glimpses of the dog hiding beneath that fear. With patience, gentle voices, treats, and the chance to move at her own pace, Gardenia has accepted chin scratches, explored the room, gone outside, and even climbed into a staff member's lap for affection. She's started wagging her tail for the people she's learning to trust. Those aren't the actions of a dog who's given up. They're the actions of a dog who's trying.

Unfortunately, the shelter is also the very thing holding her back. The constant noise, unfamiliar people, and daily stress make it nearly impossible for a dog like Gardenia to continue making the progress she's shown she's capable of.

Gardenia has just 48 hours to secure a rescue placement. We're urgently asking our rescue partners to take a look at her and help us give this frightened girl the opportunity she deserves.

Chubbs must leave the shelter by July 14.

Every morning, Chubbs gets up and chooses joy.

His legs ache. Arthritis makes every step harder than it should be. His body carries nearly 100 pounds, along with countless lumps and bumps that tell the story of years we know nothing about.

But Chubbs doesn't dwell on any of that.

He sees a person and his tail starts wagging.

He hears his kennel door open and he eagerly waddles out, ready for a walk. Ready for attention. Ready for another chance to be loved.

When Chubbs arrived as a stray, he could barely get up. Walking was difficult. We weren't sure how much he had left to give.

With medication, patience, and consistent care, he surprised everyone. Now he leaves his kennel willingly, appears potty trained, greets everyone he meets with a smile, melts into gentle hugs, and performs the sweetest little tippy taps when treats come his way.

His spirit refused to quit.

But the shelter is running out of time to give him what he truly needs.

We know Chubbs deserves soft blankets instead of concrete. Quiet naps instead of barking kennels. Loving hands instead of strangers walking by his door.

He deserves to spend whatever time he has left knowing comfort instead of confinement.

Chubbs is available for adoption, hospice foster, or rescue.

Please don't let this sweet old boy spend his final chapter waiting for someone who never comes.

🚨 ONE DAY. ONE HERO. ONE CHANCE. 🚨

Tomorrow shouldn't be another day that Baby Momma wakes up in a shelter kennel.

After more than 200 days, she's out of time to find the one thing she's been waiting for all along: someone willing to see past the kennel.

Because here's what the kennel doesn't tell you...

It doesn't tell you that the scared dog who once barked and growled at the front of her kennel learned to trust. With patience, treats, and kindness, Baby Momma transformed into a dog who greets her favorite people with loose wiggles and a wagging tail.

It doesn't tell you that she walks beautifully on a leash.

It doesn't tell you that she takes treats with the gentlest mouth.

It doesn't tell you that she'll happily curl up in your lap, sigh contentedly, and drift off to sleep because, for a moment, she feels safe.

Baby Momma has worked so hard. She's shown everyone who she really is.

She just needs the right home.

Because of her history, Baby Momma is looking for a home where she can be the only pet with no young children. What she wants most is a calm place where she can finally stop surviving and start living.

These two babies at CARE STL were recently returned and need a forever home soon! They are both two of the few lifesaver dogs that have been waiting so long for their people to come save them.

Woven Wheat is the first one. She is so sweet with high energy. She can be unsure of new people and other dogs, but with decompression she can come around and be the best dog ever. She was in a home but they said she was not getting along with their dogs (it had been less than a week since leaving), so she unfortunately had to return and now they are waiting on her new deadline date. She did come in with another dog back in December, so it’s believed by many that with slow intros and proper decompression, she could potentially coexist with another dog her size. Though she would be best as the only dog in the house at first.

The second is Smuckers. I’ve personally taken her out on multiple daycations last summer and she is wonderful. She’s great with kids and women, but she has a little stranger danger with men which is why she was returned to the shelter after being in foster for awhile. She nipped a man in the apartment building and had to return on BQ. Her BQ is up and she is now available for adoption again. Her foster was suppose to adopt but it unfortunately fell through and now she is back. She is typically non-reactive to other dogs, but would prefer to be the center of your world. She’s an absolute cuddle bug and I love her so much. She deserves the world.

Let’s not fail these girls. They deserve the world and have been waiting so long for it.

I will be back with other lifesaver dogs, but for now, look at their beautiful faces and tell me you wouldn’t want to love them forever.
