Hey folks! Good read if you have a doodle, poodle or double coated dog! Grooming care at home is essential, and having the right tools helps.
Everyone loves the fluffy teddy bear dogs, but it takes the time and effort put in at home in order to achieve it. Us as groomers have nothing to work with if the hair is matted. With that being said, make sure the tools you have at home are the proper tools you should be using on your pets coat.
Ideally, you want the length of your brush bristles to be longer than your pets coat. If not long enough, the brush will only work at the top layer leaving the hair down by the skin to tangle and knot up. Itβs also important to follow up your brushing with a metal comb that has narrow teeth to find the small knots that snuck between the bristles of your brush.
Finally, in order to achieve that teddy bear look, you need to stay on a strict grooming routine. This will allow us to properly bathe and condition the hair along with using the blower to find and remove any matting that may have snuck into place.
