2026, the 4th year of having peach trees. After an exciting harvest of a few dozen last year there will be no peaches this year. Our peach trees bloomed super early this spring. The blooms were already gone when winter came back for a few days. Bummer since we had our first ever peaches last year and were really excited to have more this year. God has a way of working things out because this year it looks like we will have more apples than ever before.🤞🤞

We had our first close up of a bald eagle today, sitting close to the road in a field. Of course I was to engrossed in the moment to take a pic until he was leaving us. We’ve had far off sightings over the last few years but none as close as this one. Such magnificent creatures, I’m glad they are making a come back.

Well. This should be interesting. I guess my unused rabbit cages have a new use. I would take them from her but the neighbors rooster has been making the rounds daily, so I guess we’ll just wait and see what happens.🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

A great friend of mine has a saying, If everyone does a little, nobody has to do a lot. And it’s so true, we don’t have to take the whole world on, we just need to do our part.

Let’s talk farmland. It’s been on my mind a long, long time. Recently a city in the county I live in annexed 144 acres of farmland into the city limits for the purpose of building a housing development. Then they granted zoning variances to allow for more houses to be built on the property. This will be the third or fourth housing development built in the last few years.

The growth of wind, solar, and data centers are never ending. They are consuming farmland at an alarming rate. I don’t debate that we need renewable energy but I sure do question the placement of them.

This side of Facebook shows me the diverse growing regions everyday. I wish everyone could see it. While I’m just now buying garden plants and getting my garden ready, I see people celebrating harvests in other areas. Everyone that farms knows there’s always risk of drought, wind, flooding, storm, snow damage. One bad event that can end your whole harvest. We need to do better at protecting these diverse growing areas.

This post is a shoutout to all the nurses and hospital teams that put in endless hours caring for people on their worst days. So far this year has been endless hours in various hospitals for various reasons with several close family members. If you’re in the medical profession in any way I just want you to know that I see you and I appreciate you!

Yesterday I bought our first round of garden plants. It’s a little early to put them out but we have access to a great Amish nursery and last year they sold out of lots of things before we got there. Peppers, lettuce, cabbage and rhubarb this round. Next trip will be tomato’s and maybe flowers, probably more cabbage.
