Good morning to our wonderful followers. We wanted to just put this post out there. This area is seeing an influx of jellyfish.Lion head jellyfish mostly.
Keep your dogs on leashes at the beach. Keep your kids and dogs safe from these beautiful, but stinging creatures. Even dead, they will sting. Here is some good tips and info on what to do if your dog does come in contact with a jellyfish.

To our beloved customers,
During this extreme hot weather, we are taking every precaution possible to keep your pet safe while they’re in our grooming facilities.
Having said that, our drying room can get extremely warm. So we will dry your dogs after a bath, but if we feel that they are struggling with heat, we will stop. Your dog may return slightly damp.
We would rather give you your dog back slightly damp, rather than push them past their comfort zone. Heat stroke is not an option at our facility. So we will take every precaution needed to keep your pets safe.
Appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please keep yourselves and your pets safe during this extreme heatwave.

We have made some big changes recently. All for the better good of the facility! We have initiated changes in safety protocols. Renovated spaces such as the live-in suite, 24 hour monitor and care. We are doing a full renovation on the grooming shop, so guests can be groomed properly before going home (extra fee). Shift leaders are being sent to our grooming spa for proper bathing/grooming training. We will require all employees to be certified in Pet CPR. We are renovating the space for small critters such as ferrets, rabbits, birds, etc. Daycare is getting an entire make-over and we will be accepting new applications for new daycare pets soon! Yay!
We are busy bees 🐝 and it’s all for the greater good here at the Canine Country Club and Feline Inn.

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You drop your dog off at the grooming spa. You picked them up a couple hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the shop, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t hear the groomer speaking to your dog like speaking with a human calming them and soothing them. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it as they worked tirelessly to work through the mats and tangles.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at pick/up- not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry prep.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush. You don’t p**p on the table or look side to side while they are trying to cut your bangs.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a great groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a positive ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.
They’re doing far more than just washing the dog. We appreciate our groomers and your pets love it here at Paws & Claws. They don’t always love the process, but they love the results.
