KITTY UPDATE!
"We adopted Sera about a month and a half ago. She spent around 11 months at WRHS, so we expected it would take a little time for her to get settled in at our house.

For the first couple weeks, she spent most of her time hiding and either hissed or hid when we got too close.

At this point, she is much more comfortable with us and has started to play and show off her personality. I've attached a couple pictures. She's still warming up but has made huge strides and we are so happy to have her.

Shay & Casey are just over 2 months old and are up to date on vaccinations and already spayed / neutered, so they are ready to find their forever homes.

If you would like to donate shelter supply items while you're there, we could REALLY use bags of pelletized pet bedding for our cat room, as this is the best material for us to use in the litter boxes in a shelter environment.

🐾 Bridge Puppy Update 🐾
Almost 24 hours after being brought to safety, these nine little survivors are doing great!
Yesterday, each puppy got a much-needed bath after arriving covered in mud. They have all been dewormed (and they definitely needed it), received their first vaccinations, and enjoyed plenty of food and care.
We are also happy to share that the 9th puppy, who was not initially located, has now been found and is safe. He or she is being cared for and receiving the same love and attention as the rest of the litter.
Today, their bellies are full, their coats are clean, and they are happy, safe, and well-fed little boys and girls. While they still have a journey ahead of them, they are finally getting the care they deserve.
We want to thank everyone who has reached out, shared their story, and offered support. It takes a community to help animals in need, and these puppies are proof of that.

Help!
We received 8 puppies this morning that were found near Red Crane Rd and Tunnelton Rd by a bridge. Thanks to a construction worker who spotted them and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, these babies are now safe. It was reported that 9 puppies had been seen, but only 8 were found by the officer. It is believed the puppies may have been tossed from the bridge.
Thankfully they are now warm, safe, and being cared for. We are hoping the 9th puppy is found safe as well.
At this time the puppies are NOT available for adoption. They will first have to complete a 5-day stray hold, and then they will need a little time to grow bigger so they can be properly spayed/neutered before becoming available for adoption.
Please do not call yet about adopting. We will post updates when they are ready.

Speedy is a beautiful, good-natured 3-year-old girl who lives in a colony with what we believe is her sister. She’s sweet, calm, and would likely do well with other cats. πŸ’•
Now… about those photos. πŸ“Έ Speedy would like everyone to know she is NOT grumpy β€” she simply does not appreciate paparazzi culture. πŸ˜‚ She prefers candid moments over glamor shots, thank you very much.
Speedy has been spayed, is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and tested for FIV/FeLv. All she needs now is a forever home where she can relax and be loved.

Giselle is our Cat of the Week! 🐾❀️
This sweet girl is about 2 years old and has such a laid-back, mellow personality. Giselle happily accepts attention from everyone she meets and loves the simple things in life β€” tasty treats, being brushed by one of our wonderful volunteers, and relaxing in her cozy cat bed.
She has only been in a single kennel here at the shelter, so we are unsure how she would do with other cats.
Giselle has been spayed, is up to date on vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLv, and dewormed.

Hampton is our Dog of the Week! 🐾❀️
This handsome boy is about 1 1/2 years old and is full of energy and personality. Hampton walks well on a leash and has already been started on basic obedience training. He’s a smart boy that would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise, playtime, and love.
Hampton has also done well with other dogs here at the shelter.
He has been tested for heartworms, is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and will be neutered and microchipped before adoption.
