**International Homeless Animals' Day** is observed every year on the **third Saturday of August**. In **2025**, it falls on **August 16**.

# # # 🐾 What is International Homeless Animals' Day?

Founded by the **International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR)** in 1992, this day raises awareness about the **pet overpopulation crisis**, the importance of **spaying and neutering**, and the millions of **homeless animals** around the world who are in need of homes, care, and protection.

---

# # # 💡 Ways to Observe the Day

Whether you're an animal lover, pet parent, or just someone who cares, here are meaningful ways to get involved:

# # # # 1. **Adopt or Foster**

* If you're ready, adopt from a local shelter or rescue.
* Fostering gives homeless pets a temporary safe space and helps shelters free up resources.

# # # # 2. **Donate**

* Money, supplies (like food, beds, and toys), or your time to local shelters and rescues.

# # # # 3. **Raise Awareness**

* Share adoptable animals on social media.
* Educate others about the importance of spaying/neutering and responsible pet ownership.

# # # # 4. **Volunteer**

* Help walk dogs, socialize cats, assist with adoption events, or lend your professional skills.

# # # # 5. **Host or Attend an Event**

* Some shelters organize candlelight vigils, adoption fairs, or educational workshops to mark the day.

# # # # 6. **Sponsor a Shelter Pet**

* If you can’t adopt, sponsor a pet’s care until they find a home.
