Let's talk more about the dogs that make up team White Paw!! The next two dogs on our 6-dog team are Percy and Goose. They run point on the team, right behind the leaders.
Percy- intact- 4 yrs male- bred by me- from the "fly girls and water boy" litter. Percy was the biggest pup from that litter and topped out the biggest dog from that litter. Percy is just a big goof- all around nice guy. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He can run anywhere on the team, lead, point, wheel, 2- dog bike or scooter. If I'm running two teams (4-dog and 6-dog), Atlas is leading one, and Percy is leading the other. On a team, he one of those dogs you don't have to worry about- he knows his jobs and does it.
Goose- Neutered- 3 yr male - Bred by Jamie Perry -
Goose is a big goof ball as well. Nice big strong dog who has a brain that doesn't stop. Goose was the smartest dog in the kennel, but Everest (six-month-old pup) is giving him a run for his money. 😉 Goose is by far, the best leash dog and has excellent manners. He is also a big mama boy- he doesn't like to disappoint and strives to do his very best. Goose prefers point position - he can run wheel if needed and is learning lead. He did lead his 1st race last fall at Dirty Dog and didn't do too bad. Super proud of him!! I love watching him grow and develop into an amazing sled dog.
The Next two dogs on the team are Arrow and Maverick - the wheel dogs!!
Arrow- intact- 6 yr old male - Bred by Julie Davis -
Arrow is my main boy- he was my 1st Siberian male that I added to my kennel - and foundation male of my kennel - he is the sire of the "fly girls and water boys" litter. He has a nice build, smart, sensitive, yet hardheaded, Crazy drive. He passed along a lot of great quality to his kids. All 3 that are here are main leaders for me! Arrow was a shiny star right from the start. Arrow is my best mono dog, and we rock the bike together - though, I prefer 2 dog bike verses 1 dog bike. He is a gentleman when it's just him and I, but when he's hooked into a team, he a beast, all business. He used to run any position on the team but is most in wheel now. That is where he prefers to be. Arrow is a pleaser and just wants to make me happy. He loves cuddle time and never wants it to stop.
Maverick- Intact (soon to be neutered) 3 yr male- bred by Julia Davis - Maverick is a nephew to my Piper - hoping he would have more of her qualities, were in reality, he much more like his uncle Finn (Evergreen Seppala's)- a perpetually puppy. Another goof and a lover of everyone!! Not shy at all and wants all the attention. Super sweet dog and big lover!! Maverick has one big quirk and that's lack of focus when racing. We are working on that, and it's getting better. When he's focused, he's great, hard driver, fast. When he's not, it's a mess. Maverick runs best next his "Brother", Goose (they grew up together). Maverick runs in team and wheel position- He's too much of a big puppy for lead and that's ok.
This spring season was really good for him, much more focused, and when he'd strayed, I was able to pull him back to business much fast then in the fall. Hoping he continues to mature through the summer and stays focused when in harness.
So that finishes up our 6-dog race team- these are the dogs that will be competing at the World Championship In Oct.
