Andy's Grooming and Boarding Barn will no longer be in operation as of Aug. 1, 2021. We truly appreciate all of the support from some very great customers and their pets for the last 19 years. Until Aug 1st, business will run as usual, please call the house line and talk to Bill if you need to set up reservations/appointments, 2150, if you get the answering machine please leave a message and he will get back to you as soon as possible.

I will be looking at doing another agility class either starting the very end of July or the beginning of Aug. If you are interested please make sure you contact me and I will put you on the list. It will be 6 classes for $80. My classes usually fill up fast as I will only have 2 classes going and only 6 people in a class. Thanks

Starting on June 23rd I will have a new groomer in my shop, her name is Carol. Carol has 35 years experience, I am very excited to have her join us! Please be patient and work with her to help her figure out what your likes and dislikes are for your pet's haircuts. I know you all will make her feel welcome to our wonderful little island! Although I will still be an active part of the grooming/boarding shop, I will not be putting is as many hours since Carol is coming and this will help me free up a little of my time. Also to everyone that has been asking, my surgery on my shoulder went well, it has been 4 weeks, slow recovery but will get there. Thanks for all of the well wishes!!!

Please get your dog in to be tested for Lime Disease. We have never had it before on Beaver Island but it is here now. Dr. Powers has had man dogs test positive. This is very serious and if not treated can be deadly.

Looking to hire a hardworking, reliable and self motivated groomer. Would need someone that is able to work well with others but also be able to work on their own. This position needs to be filled no later than August. Would be willing to work with the right groomer if the experience isn't there but the basic skill set is. Must have their own clippers/blades and scissors. A must to have good customer service skills. I will be going on vacation Jan. 13th and will be off the island for about 10 days. The boarding facility will still be going as usual. Kat will be grooming but the only dogs that she will be able to groom during the time I am gone and bath and brush dogs. She will not be able to do a haircut on a dog as she isn't fully trained yet. I will be back on the island as of the 23rd or Jan. so if you do need a haircut done on your dog you are welcome to schedule after that date.

Kennels are officially full for Thanksgiving and Christmas, if you are looking for boarding during those times the best I can do is put you on a cancellation list. Thanks

I would like to thank Mary Cook, Judy Boyle and Erin Boyle for agreeing to help me with the Beaver Island Animal Fund. The organization will be taking on some changes of the next several months so please bare with us as it might be a little bumpy but we believe in the long run these changes will be very benifical to the organization which means will also be good for Beaver Island. 206.00 was raised after the 4th of July parade with the agility that was done for the animal fund. Thank you to all of the many that helped out to put this even on, Adam, Jacque, Kimberly, Connie, John, Karen, Bob, Judy and Erin and a huge thank you to all of the people that donated!!

Ticks are already showing up on the island, I have taken several off dogs....with such a mild winter this year ticks and fleas will probably be bad again this summer, so get your topicals/preventatives on your pets and keep a close eye on them. I just ordered some tick removers that I will be selling in the retail area, the work very well and are easy to use so if you start having a problem with the ticks stop by and buy one and have them on hand, they are only $6.99.
