What a weekend it was at the Williamston Hunter circuit!

We took a small but mighty group of kids to compete this weekend and it was great!

Betts and Tristan competed in the schooling hunters sat and sun and walked away with lessons learned as well as tricolored ribbons both days!!!

Emerson and Ella came out to join us on Sunday and rode great in the walk trot and walk trot canter earning them a champion and reserve champion but most importantly wrote down some homework for the next show! This new team is going somewhere!

Camille rode Ella in the cross rail division both days and my goodness they are improving every time out! Camille took instruction and made corrections in her courses and they are ready to take on the season! Keep up the great work!

Ariya and Harry competed in the cross rails as well and had GREAT rounds in a pretty big division both days! They continued to make improvements throughout the weekend and earned great placings in their respective classes!

Ellen’s baby horse Cairo came and hung out to learn the ropes and after working out some wiggles Fri and sat, he schooled the course well Sunday morning and ended on a high note! We feel confident he’ll be competing very soon! I LOVE this guy.

Wow! Get ready for a long post!

Dreamwood Farm attended the Sedgefield at the Park C show this past weekend and what a time we had!!!!

Stephanie and Honor had some of their BEST rounds to date and even tackled the art of the “long ride” like a pro in the majority of her rounds 😉 bringing home fantastic ribbons in the Adult Hunters both Saturday and Sunday in good company ❤️
Betts and Tristan made a massive comeback in the long stirrup after a long hiatus from showing! Her and Tristan had a few hiccups on Saturday but still managed great ribbons out of a HUGE division!! Sunday they came back riding with a plan and had much more consistency in their rounds!!! Great job Betts and Tristan!!!!
Lauren and Seti braved the show arena for the first time this year and competed in the low adults! After dusting off the cobwebs on Saturday the came back on Sunday with a clear plan and followed through! Even coming away with a win in the low adult medal and great ribbons in a big division! Way to go team!
Bladen and Velma were a force to be reckoned with as they continued to gain confidence after moving up to the Children’s pony division this year and were reserve champion on Saturday and great placings Sunday. They even had a win in the eq over fences and the under saddle! More importantly they were able to be more consistent in the striding and distances! Hard work pays off!
Abigail and Ariel moved up to the short stirrup division this weekend it was so awesome to watch this kid in action!!!!! Ariel is young and green but oh so willing and we have quickly fallen in love with her!!!! Abigail gave her wonderful rides and stuck to the plan!!! She was rewarded for her efforts on Sunday walking away with the reserve championship ribbon on Sunday competing against much more seasoned ponies!!! Way to go Ariel and Abigail!!
Addison and Major showed in the childrens ponies and Major was fantastic on Saturday! Addie made corrections when needed and piloted major around the course to some great results and consistent rounds! I love watching this team go especially on Sunday when Major decided he was ready to go home and proved to be a little tough to get around but Addison made wonderful corrections and never gave up! She even got some great placings sat and sun!!! Gritty is this kids middle name 💪🏻
Emerson joined us for her very first show this weekend and competed in the walk trot poles and wtc. To say she knocked it out of the park is an understatement!!! Emerson made some great decisions in her flat classes and rode with a competitive spirit! Her and Ella came away with FOUR championships for the weekend! I think she has caught the horse show bug and her parents are in a lot of trouble 😂🤣🤣 way to go Emerson and Ella!!!!
I think potentially the highlight of the weekend was having Bella rejoin the group with us during her spring break. Bella moved away last year but we continue to stay in touch and always welcome her back with open arms anytime she wants to come! We borrowed a fantastic pony “Pumpkin” from a friend and after a rough start on Fri, Bella quickly figured out how to get the best out of this awesome little red mare! She ended up having some amazing rounds and good placings in the childrens ponies on Saturday! We decided to do the mini derby on Saturday night and out of 21 horses and ponies Bella and Pumpkin came back to lead the heard in the victory gallop!!! Bella we are so proud of you and miss you dearly. She also continued her good fortune through Sunday and ended up champion in the division Sun as well as weekend Champion! Until next time kiddo!

Dreamwood Farm was so excited to have Tony Albertson out for a clinic today. Tony has been one of my long time friends and mentors as well as wonderful asset to the horse community for many years. We were so blessed to have him join us this afternoon and offer his abundant knowledge. Thank you so much Tony!! We’ll be doing another clinic in the near future!!!

What an INCREDIBLE weekend we had at Williamston Hunter show!

Abby Piloted Ariel around the children’s pony division like a champ! This was only Ariel’s second show with us and she is just getting better and better every time out! Keep up the good work Abby and Ariel!

Major and Addie dusted off the cobwebs from winter on Saturday and worked out some kinks. Sunday they came with their A game and ended up reserve champion in the childrens ponies!!!

Bladen and Velma decided they would just hang out and school on Saturday. On Sunday they stepped up to the children’s ponies for the first time and coming home with champion in the division.

Ellie joined us for her first time competing!!! It was amazing to watch this kids laser focus as she made great decisions and progress throughout the weekend and ended up reserve champion on Sunday in the walk trot! Beau was so happy to get out and compete again! What a fantastic team!

Ariya and Harry stepped up to the beginner cross rails this weekend and Harry came off the trailer ready to work! This team had such a successful weekend! I’m so proud of them. Ariya went home with plenty of homework but still walked away with a tricolored ribbon both Saturday and Sunday! Way to go!

Last but certainly not least, Stephanie and Honor came out to show for Saturday and had some amazing rounds in the Adult hunters. They ended res champs on Saturday then headed home. I’m so impressed by this team as they haul in weekly for lessons but it’s always apparent they go home and work on the homework that was given…continuing to show improvement every time out!

I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to navigate this team through all their individual goals! Can’t wait for the next show!

What a great weekend at the Raleigh Indoor show!
Bladen and Velma dusted the cobwebs off from the winter and got back in the show ring on Saturday earning great ribbons in the short stirrup division then came back to win the eq on the flat and over fences on Sunday!
Stephanie and Honor debuted in the first A show and first show of the season. Honor was feeling spicy on Saturday while he got his show legs back but by Sunday he was back to his normal amazing self. Stephanie and honor picked up great placings in a big division in the low adults. Way to go!!!
Camille and Ella had to get some show jitters out on Saturday but pulled it together for some big wins in the opportunity cross rails on Sunday. They ended up reserve champion on Sunday. Love this team!
Abigail gave Ariel her first show experience and it was so great! What a positive experience for her and they even walked away with some good ribbons in the cross rails! So excited to see where this team goes!

♥️♥️♥️

She was never the fastest.
She wasn’t draped in garlands or drowned in applause.
She never heard a roar from the grandstands.

But Somethingroyal changed the world—
by giving it a c**t that would stop time.

She was bred for royalty, yes—daughter of the great Princequillo.
Her blood ran deep with champions,
but her destiny wasn’t to be the legend—
it was to create one.

In 1970, under the quiet Virginia sky at Meadow Farm, Somethingroyal foaled her thirteenth baby.
A big chestnut c**t with legs like stilts, a blaze down his face, and a look in his eyes that was… different.

He was awkward at first.
Too big. Too bold. Too much.

But Somethingroyal stood over him gently, like she knew.
As if, in her bones, she felt the thunder this child would one day bring.

They named him Secretariat.

And she watched him rise.

From the paddocks of Meadow to the roar of Belmont Park.
From a foal nipping at her tail to a stallion running into history.

She didn’t need a trophy.
She had him.

The c**t who shattered records, crushed Triple Crowns,
and ran not just for glory—but with grace, power, and pride she passed on in every stride.

She lived to see him crowned.
She lived to see the world fall in love with her son.

And in the stillness of her later years, Somethingroyal remained the quiet empress of the sport—
the matriarch of greatness,
the mother of immortality.

When she passed in 1988 at the age of 31,
she left behind more than foals.
She left a legacy.

🌹
Some mares make champions.
Somethingroyal made Secretariat.
And in doing so, she reminded the world:
Sometimes the most powerful stories begin in silence,
with a mother who simply believes.

🖤
Somethingroyal – the heart behind the legend.
