NCHJA C FINALS SHOW was a weekend of highs and lows. Saturday started off a little rocky for everyone with the rain but Sunday was more than we could have hoped for! Dreamwood Farms Trainer Christina Hutton and her riders brought home many ribbons, great memories and some things to work on.
Sox and Abigail brought their A game both days and ended up š„ in the classic and handy and 5th in the under saddle. That made them 1st over all in the cross rails for the weekend! So incredibly proud of this team and this childās ability to step up and show a horse sheās not used to riding and making it look easy. Of course Sox makes it looks easy as well! Way to go team!
Bladen, Hayden and Velma had some ups and downs all weekend but Velma ended up 3rd over all in the childrens ponies on Sunday. Bladen showed up for work on Sunday determined to give his pony conference and he certainly did that! Good job Bladen and Velma! Weāre so proud of you both! Thank you again to Hayden for helping to prep our sweet girlā¤ļø
Fritz and Abby qualified this year by the skin of their teeth and going to finals certainly wasnāt on the radar at the beginning of the year but they knocked it out of the park with great rides in their handy and classic round and one of the best under saddles weāve seen from Fritz! They ended up 4th overall in the childrens ponies! Good job team! Weāre coming for ya next year again!
Betts and her partner Tristan had to over come some minor mistakes on Saturday but came a way with a first place win in the under saddle out of 20+ riders and a pair of 87 scores!!! With an unfortunate less than stellar trot Jump in the handy round, we coming away with some homework 𤣠this team is going to do big things the rest of this year and next. Weāre excited to watch them progress!
Stephanie and Honor put in some of their best rides yet including a very gutsy ride in the handy round. Stephanie has been working so hard at home, hauling her horse to the farm for weekly lessons so she would be prepared for this show. We cannot be more proud of her and Honor. They were 7th over all in the adults! Keep up the good work!
For Christina, one of the most bitter sweet moments this weekend was Bella returning from Maine to show Rico one last time at finalsā¦she came to the stable on Tuesday and rode just a couple times to prepare on a pony she hadnāt ridden in months. The bond they had developed last year came through for them this weekend and even though Saturday had some rough times (forgetting the whole middle of the medal courseš¤£) Sunday was magical for both of them with a win in the under saddle and the handy!!! Saying good bye yet again was tough on our barn family. We all love you Bella and know youāre going to do great things with your new guy! Itās not good bye, itās see you later!!!
