If you’ve ever noticed a medical word ending in “-itis,” here’s a little secret—it’s doctor-speak for “inflammation.” So, when you hear the term hepatitis in dogs, it simply means your pup has inflammation of the liver.
Now, why might a diagnosis of hepatitis be a cause for concern? Imagine your pup’s liver as a busy airport hub. Planes (nutrients and chemicals) constantly land and take off, passengers (toxins) get screened, and cargo (energy and vitamins) gets sorted and stored for later flights. The liver keeps everything moving safely and efficiently.
When these “airport” processes break down, flights get delayed, passengers pile up, and important cargo can’t get where it needs to go. In other words, when hepatitis stops the liver from functioning appropriately, it can impact your dog’s whole body.
Dr. Julie Buzby discusses the types, causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment for hepatitis in dogs so you will know what to expect should your dog be facing this diagnosis:

Especially in the warmer months of the year, but to some extent all year round, dogs with itchy, red, irritated feet come walking through the vet clinic doors. Some of them even plop down in the waiting room or exam room and start licking and chewing at their paws almost instantly.
These poor dogs are distressed because their feet are so itchy. And their poor parents are upset because they hate seeing their beloved pups so uncomfortable.
While there are a variety of reasons a dog may have itchy red paws, a paw yeast infection definitely ranks high on that list. Learn the scoop on dog paw yeast infections, including the causes, predisposing factors, symptoms, treatment options, and prevention strategies:

Why do dogs snore?
Snoring in dogs, like in people, is most commonly caused by soft tissues in the throat partially blocking the airway. As air moves over the soft tissue, it vibrates, creating the snoring sound. However, sometimes other airway conditions can cause dogs to snore too.

While it can be normal for most dogs to have occasional moments of snoring in certain sleeping positions or during exciting dreams, consistently snoring during sleep can be a sign of a health problem. Integrative veterinarian Dr. Julie Buzby gives 7 reasons on why dogs snore, and what it may mean for our dear dozing dogs:

Have you ever come home to find that your beloved dog has chewed up your favorite pair of shoes, raided the kitchen trash can, or eaten something unidentifiable in the yard? Yep, we’ve all been there. Inevitably, your dog will ingest something that doesn’t agree with his or her tummy.
While there are dogs with what my grandma used to call a “strong constitution”—the ability to eat anything without so much as a tiny burp—other dogs aren’t so lucky. It’s these not-so-lucky dogs that usually end up taking a trip to the vet for vomiting, diarrhea, and/or belly pain.
At the appointment, the vet may prescribe a medication like sucralfate as part of the treatment plan. Dr. Julie Buzby shares what dog parents should know about this “GI band-aid” medication:
