It will be getting cold the next few days. Please be aware of any animals outside without shelter.

Last night we posted asking if anyone with dogs tethered outside needed help bringing them indoors due to the extreme cold temperatures and wind chills. We expected to hear from people in need, but did not receive any requests.

So we are sharing this again in a more direct way.

Beaufort County law states:
No animal shall be restrained or tethered during any named tropical storm, named hurricane, or any adverse weather expected to impact Beaufort County.

With the current extreme cold and dangerous wind chills, this law applies.

If you need a crate or temporary assistance to bring your dog indoors for one or two nights, please reach out now. We are giving owners the opportunity to do the right thing and keep their animals safe.

Moving forward, citations will be issued for violations.

Port Royal: info about reporting coyote sightings.

𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

We’re sharing a quick update for those in the Sands Beach Road area. A coyote was seen moving through the area recently. This is not unusual for our region, and they generally prefer to keep their distance.
We do ask that anyone who sees the coyote please contact our non-emergency dispatch line at 𝟴𝟰𝟯-𝟱𝟮𝟰-𝟮𝟳𝟳𝟳. This helps us keep accurate information on wildlife activity and ensures we can respond appropriately.
We also encourage extra awareness for those out with pets or small children—just the normal care you’d use around any local wildlife.
