Grateful Dog life updates:
Mom has been home now for a week and a half doing very well, making a marvelous recovery.

We have a new groomer we added to our team. So starting next week you will see Alyson here with me.

I am back to grooming. I’ll be here at least 4 days a week. I will also be working every other Saturday and Alyson will be here to groom on the Saturdays I am not.

Thank you for all the love, messages, voicemails, cards and flowers that have been sent to my mom. Her and I both truly truly appreciate how much you care about her.

With that being said, dont hesitate to call and book your summer appointments!

Moms bingo card for her hospital visit included:
2 rapid responses
ICU stay
Congestive heart failure
Pulmonary embolism
Pulmonary effusion
Pneumonia

Mom will need some rehab, physical therapy, and many many follow up doctors visits once she comes home. With all that being said I will not be able to return to a 5 day work schedule JUST YET. You may only see me a few days a week but in the mean time I have a few ladies to take my place.

Update: Mom is on the road to recovery. It’s been a very long bumpy road, with some scary events. We are still in the hospital. I’ve slept by her bedside for the last 11 days.

Again please be patient as the help I have is trying to return all your calls and schedule appointments. But it’s still up in the air on my return.

My mom is still in the hospital. She’s resting and recovering in ICU. Over the next few weeks you will see someone in the shop taking over for a little bit to groom your fur babies until I can return. She will try to return calls and book appointments over the next few days.

In memoriam of my furry friends who have recently passed, I loved each and everyone of you for different reasons. You’ll never be forgotten.

Maggie aka Witch: 3lbs of terror trying to eat me for her nails
Sandy: Always standing on her hind legs and waving
Bella aka Scrounge: Insisted on getting groomed laying on her back. Always scrounging for treats
Jefferson: Walters best friend. Sloppy drooling kisses and gentle nibbles and breaking our backs 😂
Cooper: Acting like a tough guy barking at his neighbors in the crate next to him, just being the best behaved schnauzer for grooming, of all time and his long zztop beard
Maggie: Pulling me through the salon, also breaking my back and always forcing her paw upon you
Sam: Sooo good for grooming, a total gentleman, loved a good nap, couldn’t get to mom fast enough

Life's cruel truth is, that what brings us the most joy can leave the deepest sorrow.

From the moment I met Leo, I knew I would love him until the bitter end. That was a promise I made to him, and I kept it. I can’t even put into words the bond him and I had. It was unlike any dog I had before. He was my boy and I was his mom. He was my biggest protector and I was his. I can say with my whole chest I gave him the best life imaginable. Spoiled ass.

You never had a price tag, my love. I would have sold my soul to the devil and a kidney on the black market if I had to, just to get you better and I tried. But in the end cancer won the battle we couldnt fight anymore. I wanted more time with you but I couldn’t be selfish. I had no choice but to let you go and you let me know I was making the right choice.
You will forever hold the biggest piece of my broken heart. My heart hurts and my soul is empty.
Where ever you are i hope the sun is shinning down upon you, I know that was your favorite thing in the world and I wish you got one more summer to enjoy it.
Until it’s my time to meet you again, and you coming running towards me, tail wagging, thank you for blessing me with 10 years. I love you forever and you’ll always be my baby.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent such nice messages to Leo, I love you. Here’s an update for those won...

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent such nice messages to Leo, I love you. Here’s an update for those wondering;

Leo had built up fluid around his heart so he needed an emergency procedure to have it drained. Upon having an echocardiogram they discovered a 1cm mass they are certain is Hemangiosarcoma (an aggressive cancer that starts in the blood vessels). This is common for your older large breed dogs.

However, his long term diagnosis has punched me in the stomach and took the wind out of my sail. If he comes home and we keep him on the meds for the fluid sack around his heart, he has a 3-4 month prognosis. Option 2: we can do a non invasive surgery to remove the sack around his heart and start chemo for the mass, we have 6 months maybe longer.

Time is an absolute thief. Im blessed for having 10 years but it’s not long enough for me. Either way my world is about to unravel in the next few months. But we’re going to give him the best summer of his life filled with a bucket list of activities!!!

💥 With that being said; there are going to be days I can’t come to work. There will be days I’ll have to cancel and reschedule appointments. My dog is my number one priority.
I’m going to be SO honest for this one and hurt some feelings: if I so much as hear “but my dog needs to be groomed” or you’re upset I have to cancel or you throw a tantrum- you’re no longer my client and will need to be serviced elsewhere. Period the end.

As a groomer we push ourselves to be there for you and your pets needs. But sometimes we get sick too, or our dogs get sick or we have a family crisis- JUST LIKE YOU. We are not superhuman. Im tired of entitled behavior and tantrums over having to reschedule a groom for a few days on the RARE occasions I have to.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. I’ll see you all soon.
