đž Educational Post for Pet Parents - Accountability Matters in Grooming
Matting, overgrowth, and scheduling issues donât happen overnight â they happen in between grooming appointments. As your Groomer, I can help fix the results, but I canât take responsibility for what happens at home.
Hereâs what every Pet Parent should know:
⸝
⨠1. Grooming is a Partnership
Groomers maintain your dogâs coat during the appointment.
Pet Parents maintain the coat between appointments.
Both roles matter.
Both affect the outcome.
⸝
⨠2. Matting Isnât a âGroomer Problemâ
Matting comes from:
⢠Skipping brushing
⢠Delaying grooming visits
⢠Allowing wet/damp coats to dry tangled
⢠Heavy seasonal shedding
These things happen at home, not in the grooming van.
⸝
⨠3. Scheduling Ahead Prevents Emergencies
Mobile grooming books out fast.
If appointments arenât made in advance, it can lead to:
⢠Long wait times
⢠Overgrown coats
⢠Matting
⢠Emergency shave-downs
Planning ahead protects your dogâs comfort.
⸝
⨠4. Blame Doesnât Fix the Coat â Maintenance Does
If a dog arrives matted, tangled, or overdue, it isnât because of the groomer.
Itâs simply the result of what didnât happen at home.
And thatâs okay â as long as we work together going forward.
⸝
⨠5. A Groomerâs Responsibility
⢠Provide a safe, gentle, stress-free grooming experience
⢠Use professional tools and techniques
⢠Educate pet parents
⢠Groom according to the dogâs current condition
⢠Prioritize comfort over vanity
A Groomer is not responsible for:
⢠Unmaintained coats
⢠Missed or delayed appointments
⢠Behavior issues caused by lack of handling at home
⢠Matting that has already formed
⸝
đž Teamwork = Comfort + Safety + Beautiful Results
When Groomers and Pet Parents work together, pets stay healthier, happier, and mat-free.
