🚐✨ Spay/Neuter Transport Program Update! ✨🚐

Big progress is being made behind the scenes, and we’re getting closer every day to launching this much-needed program! Here’s where we stand right now:

✅ The application is complete and ready
✅ We received our USDA carrier license 🎉
✅ The veterinary clinic is seemingly on board — they have one more meeting scheduled for next Friday to finalize a few details
✅ We’re still working on the consent and liability waiver forms/contracts to make sure everything is safe and clear for all participants

In order to officially launch, there are also a few specific supplies we’ll need:

Plastic transport kennels

Puppy pads

Folders & paper collars

Bowls that attach to kennels

Kennel cards + a way to attach them

A write/erase sign to note how many of each type of animal are on board (for emergencies)

Once we get the final approval, we’ll share the application, wishlist, and prices with everyone! 🐾

Look who’s out and about in her foster home — Bat Girl! 🐾

Chobby, Millo, & Ruby Update 🐾💉
All three pups received their annual vaccinations with rabies and bordatella, which came to a total of $278.10

Unfortunately, both chiweenies, Chobby and Millo, tested heartworm positive and will start their 30 days of doxycycline for treatment.

Chobby, Millo, and Rebel (our little orange kitten from July) will all be seen at Emancipet Friday Sept 5 for neuter surgery which will cost us $250.

Kitten Update! 🐾👀
⚠️warning nasty eye goop images at the end⚠️

The goopy babies, Gabby and Pandi, are settling in so well! Their eyes already look 100x better — less crust, more sparkle. ✨ They’re eating like champs, drinking plenty of water, and doing great with the litter box!

We think we’ve got one girl and one boy, so spay and neuter will be top priority once they’re fully recovered — because yes, kittens can get pregnant as young as 4 months old! 😳

If all goes well, we’re hoping they’ll be healthy enough to head back for their vaccines on Monday. Fingers crossed for continued healing and happy purrs! 🐱💕

Well… I guess we’re doing this. 🙃

I brought these two goopy-eyed kittens inside because whatever infection they’ve got is gluing their little eyelids shut, and I couldn’t just not do something. They’re pretty friendly, so we’ll need help getting them fully vetted—spay/neuter, vaccines, and meds. They do have a foster lined up (who is possibly interested in adopting!), so fingers crossed we’re on the right path for them. 🤞 forgive their set up, I wasn't prepared, we'll fix it.

Meanwhile, I’m still hoping to catch the two feral orange twins that are hanging around. They’re young enough that with time and effort, they could become adoptable too.

To be clear—I have zero desire to start a full-blown TNR program… but I also can’t ignore that the cat population on the rescue property is getting out of hand. 😩 Our neighbors only want to keep two, but many of the cats are fully feral. Thankfully, our vet has a running list of folks looking for barn cats, so our plan is to spay/neuter and relocate the ferals that aren’t being cared for into safe working cat homes.

We’ll leave the true TNR work to the pros over at Rural Texas TNR Program (go give them a follow please) —we’re just trying to hold the line over here. 😅
