Dog P**p Myth #1--It makes good fertilizer!
The Truth--Since dogs are carnivores, Dog P**p can cause BIG PROBLEMS when left on your grass and in your yard. CHILDREN ARE ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE to diseases from dog p**p because they often play in the dirt and put things in their mouths.
1) Excess Nitrogen: While nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plants, dog p**p is too high in nitrogen. This can cause "burning" of the grass, leading to yellow or brown spots rather than healthy, green growth.
2) Disease: Dog p**p can contain many disease-causing organisms that can make people, pets, and wildlife sick. These include:
Parasites: Such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms, which can cause diarrhea and malnutrition. Dogs can become infected by eating contaminated soil, licking contaminated fur, or drinking contaminated water.
Bacteria: Such as E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Yersinia, which can cause diarrhea.
Protozoa: Such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium, which can be spread by dog f***s.
Toxoplasma: A disease that can be transmitted by dog p**p.
Parvovirus: A disease that can be transmitted by dog p**p.
