The Process for Mass Breeding High quality Guppies:
1. You need at least 2 pairs of high-quality breeding stock. If you're wondering why you need at least 2 pairs, leave a comment and I'll let you know. So, where can you find good breeders? From me ๐
2. When the females are pregnant, you need to isolate them into a small tank with a breeder box so they can drop their fry safely without the other fish eating the babies.
3. After raising the fry in the small tank for about 2โ3 weeks (which makes it easier for them to find food and develop their bodies), transfer them to a larger tank. They need more space to grow, as the small tank will start getting cramped by then.
4. Once they reach the size where you can tell the males and females apart, separate them into two different tanks.
5. Excluding true-breeding strains that are 100% identical to the parents, some guppy varieties only have a 50โ70% true rate. For these types, after raising them for 2 months, you need to cull the ones that don't match the parents out of the colony.
6. When the fish hit 3โ4 months old, select the most outstanding ones from both the male and female tanks, then pair them up to create the next generation.
*Reading up to this point, many beginners might think "Wow, thatโs way too easy!" Well, go ahead and try your luck. Youโll quickly realize exactly why I use the phrase "try your luck" once you actually start going through these steps! ๐
