I finally added a honey super and cracked the top lid a bit. It was like instant AC for the hot hive. A few minutes before, a lot of the bees were hanging out outside on the box. ,

This year we purchased a bunch of apple trees and raspberry bushes from our county soil and water district. Got them planted in time for Earth Day.

Can you spot the three roosters? Hint they are Barred rock mixes and one walks across the camera quickly. They are enjoying a green treat on this cold snowy morning. We are hoping these roosters will be friendlier than the last rooster we had. We’ll need them for hawk protection this year since the last snow storm took down all our aerial netting. # rooster

This warm weather is great for us but not much nectar resources left for the honeybees due to last weeks heavy frosts. We have our hive secured for winter and are continuing to feed them sugar water with the inner feeder.

English Lab(Dad) and Blue Merle Great Dane (Mom) enjoying the last few days with their 11 puppies. Most will be going to their new families this week. These pups sure have been the focus of the farm these last 8weeks.
