Unfortunately, this is needing to be addressed as we have not be given the privacy and time that we asked for as we navigate this loss.
We have had to come together as a small team and work through some of the hardest days to secure the wellbeing of the rescue. The cats are our priority, thankfully we were able to achieve this with the help of so many. We know the rescue world lost an amazing woman. We didn’t abandon the cause we simply asked for time as we closed the shelter and found security for our cats as we personally and collectively navigated though the loss of our founder. We have all the plans to revisit and make decisions in the weeks to come to continue to honor and support Malissa legacy, however that looks.
We have spent countless hours, blood, sweat and tears building this rescue with her over the last few years to save as many cats as possible. The side you don’t always see is the middle of the night runs, the early 5am morning, the endless phone calls, the emergencies, the 18 hour days, the never ending amount of cats, the tears and sheer exhaustion.
Demands, negative comments and opinions should not even be a part of this, yet we are still being bombarded with them. It’s extremely disappointing to even have to ask for the decency to process. We are grieving the loss of our friend on top of grieving our rescue, the cats, the dynamic and more than you could possibly imagine. Please take the time to be considerate and guard lovingly your opinions.
As we we get through this we will be posting and sharing our plans and decision for the future. We deeply appreciate everyone who has reached out and honored Malissa and all of us here at the rescue. We look forward to seeing how we can still try and make a difference to help continue the legacy that was built out of her dream.
