Over the years, eleven have attained Master Hunter status, while others are at various stages of competition, including two more working towards their Master Hunter titles. For fine pheasant and chukar hunting, call us! We are located in northwest Wisconsin, at the head waters of the Yellow River, only two miles off Highway 63 on a black top road. The terrain consists of rolling hills, ponds, as well as wooded areas that are part of a rich glacial hummock containing a diversity of plants and wildlife. Hunts are available from July 15th to Jan. 1st. In July and August, a limited number of "hen hunts" are available at approximately half our regular prices. These hunts are great for dog training, young hunters, and/or those who simply want to do an early season tune up. The "hen hunts" sell out quickly, so call early to reserve birds. When the snow flies, bring your snowshoes and head into the field for a unique and exciting winter hunt.Gift certificates make great Christmas and birthday gifts. No license is required, but hunters must be at least 12 years old. For hunters between the ages of 12 and 18, a Hunter Safety Certificate is required. Hunters must wear a blaze orange hat or vest for safety reasons.

I'm blond. Terminally so. Even though in my old age, I've had to have assistance in maintaining the evidence of my blondness. It's only right to give people fair warning. However, I have been told even if I had black hair I would still be blond. Every day I prove to the world how blond i am. Well, today I outdid myself. I'm hoping I'll be covered for future blond moments for a little while, at least after today. For those who aren't aware, I have a bear harvest permit again this year and am planning to hunt over bait. That means periodic trips into the woods to put out bait. I've been charged by a bear in the past so have carried a .22 handgun with me while putting out bait. Everyone told me that I was foolish, that a .22 wouldn't kill a bear. Fine, I said. I'm not going to try kill a bear till season opens. But I thought discharging the firearm would scare away a bear. This year, after the bear attack in Comstock, i concluded perhaps I should carry a bit more firepower. I baited once while carrying my .357. Decided it would be way too heavy, with too much recoil, to be practical so i went online and ordered bear spray... The super duper kind designed to send bears for miles around fleeing in terror. I've been feeling pretty confident carrying that with me instead of a firearm. Today my friend, Richard, went with me when I set out to bait. As per prior practice, I kept the bear spray front and center while we were in the woods. Afterwards, I dropped Richard off and realized I didn't know where the bear spray was so I called out to him to find out. He said it was on the floor of the truck. I decided I had better find a more secure spot for it so I stuck it in the console and closed the lid. I had just done that when I heard a blood chilling sound... of an aerosol can discharging.... in my truck, with me and two dogs. I opened the console, pitched the can out like it was a gr***de. Too late. Oh my God! I thought we were going to die. I had to get the truck and dogs to the house so I covered my face with a dirty towel and managed to get home. We all were coughing and throwing up. My face is scarlet and the dogs' faces probably are too, if you could see beneath their fur.
In the future, I'm carrying a firearm. That spray is too cruel even for bears. This was even worse than when an aerosol bottle of doe in estrus discharged in my hunting pants. I told you I'm blond.

I'm addicted to chocolate! These pups are addicted to momma's milk bar. They haven't missed any meals as you can see. They start the weaning process on Monday. I think they will be quite happy to move up to puppy food.

Able, a mixed breed male who is a rescue dog here, was invited by my friends, Taylor and Joey, to go to dock diving events in Ohio and Illinois. This was his first time dock diving and he kicked butt. Able is now qualified for the national dock diving competition on Ohio in November. I think he's found his calling. Thanks so much, Joey and Taylor.
