This one really hit me today.

Do we know what “no” looks like? What it feels like?

Do we honor the “no” in our equine companions? In our fellow humans?

Are we able to accept “no” as an answer?

Only when we respect the “no” will we ever truly hear a “yes” 💜

With more and more equine massage therapists out there how do you know which one to hire for your horse? Here are a few things to pay attention to when looking for a massage therapist:⁠
⁠
🐴 The school they graduated from⁠
Not all schools are created equal. Look up the school, find out who is teaching it and find out what the background of the teacher is along with how long they have been teaching. ⁠
⁠
🐴 Continuing education⁠
Are they attending additional courses or CE courses? This is not required to be an equine massage therapist but this is a career that is always evolving. ⁠
⁠
🐴 Type of massage ⁠
There are a wide variety of massage types and techniques available. The type of massage you are looking for will depend on the therapist you hire, not every massage therapist practices every type of massage. ⁠
⁠
🐴 Experience/Case studies⁠
If your horse has a specific issue ask the potential therapist if they have worked on a horse with a similar issue. ⁠
⁠
🐴 Know the laws⁠
This one is a little more on you as the owner. Vets are the only ones who can legally diagnose and chiros who hold a vet or human chiro degree are the only ones who can legally make skeletal adjustments. Run far away from someone who claims they can do the above; they are not insured or qualified to do so. ⁠
