Happiest (slightly belated) Adoption Day to the plump little Waverly!
After her tail amputation and the heartbreak of being rejected by her longtime cage mate, Waverly is finally settling in beautifully with her new, forever adoptive family in Maryland ❤️

We couldn’t be happier to see this resilient girl get the fresh start she so deserves.
Happy forever, sweet baby girl! 🐾💕

We urgently need funding to continue caring for these gliders and give them a real chance.

Please share — sharing my face honestly helps more than you think 😉 💛

❣️Sugar Haven Logo Blanket Giveback Fundraiser❣️
💔Over the weekend, we pulled 45 sugar gliders out of Florida as part of Project Nut-Fix & Chill and transported them up the East Coast. Some were dropped off at foster homes, some went straight to adopters, and 22 of them came directly to the shelter.
💔Many of the gliders that arrived at the shelter are in extremely poor health. We are seeing severe dental disease, significant weight issues, and multiple cases of serious dehydration, including gliders who have already required sub q fluids just to stabilize them.
💔Two gliders in particular are causing us major concern.
💔Glider #491 and #492 are both extremely dehydrated. #492, a female, is the most concerning at this time, as she is struggling to maintain her body weight. Neither of them is eating much right now. #491, who was officially named Mason yesterday by someone who sponsored his neuter, is also being closely monitored as we work with the vet on next steps.
As fast as money is coming in, it is going right back out the door.
❣️We need funds to continue providing the care these gliders desperately need.
❣️Our goal is $1,500, and as a way to show appreciation to our supporters, we are offering another hand knitted Sugar Haven logo blanket, generously made by the incredible Danielle Cook. ❣️The blanket measures approximately 4½ feet by 5 feet, and, like the last one, took months to make.
❣️For every $5 donated, your name will be added once as part of this giveback.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated.

❗️ LOCAL HELP NEEDED ❗️

I really need help from my local community.

Last night, I administered subQ fluids to 20 out of the 24 sugar gliders we are currently most concerned about. These gliders are part of Project Nut-fix & Chill, an operation that began in Florida after a breeder surrendered over 100 gliders to us.

Many of those gliders were transported north to Massachusetts and placed with adopters along the way, but all of the sick and medically fragile ones ended up here with me.

I was administering fluids until 3:30 am, and they all need more today and ongoing while we continue diagnostics and work toward answers. These gliders also require medical bath treatments, which I need extra hands to help with as well.

We do have a vet appointment scheduled for Monday afternoon, but until then, this level of care is taking all of my time, and I cannot keep up alone.

I am urgently looking for local people who already know how to administer subQ fluids and can help short term until we can get these guys on an appropriate treatment plan.

📍 Location: Barre, MA

If you are local, experienced with subQ fluids and/or medical bath treatments, and able to help, please comment or message me directly.

Extra hands right now would make a huge difference.

We are still stuck at $170, and we are in desperate need of funding for these gliders from Project Nut-Fix & Chill.

Last night alone, I spent four hours caring for 24 of the 29 gliders that I brought back to the shelter from Florida last weekend. 20 of those gliders required sub q fluids, and many of them also need Ketoseb baths and ongoing supportive care.

I am one person, and there is very limited experienced help in my area that can assist with this level of medical care. This work takes time, supplies, and resources, and right now we are stretched incredibly thin.

We need solutions, and we need them fast. We need funding to continue this care and to give these gliders a real chance.

Please help us if you are able. Sharing this also truly helps.

🚗🚗 LAST MINUTE TRAVEL NOTICE 🚗🚗

I will be leaving Monday night or early Tuesday morning, depending on what is on my itinerary. I will be traveling first to Maryland and then to the panhandle of West Virginia, near the borders of Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

I will be leaving the panhandle of West Virginia Tuesday evening.

We will also have one of our volunteers meeting me in Massachusetts and driving up to Burlington, Vermont.

This is very last second, but if anyone is interested in coordinating an adoption, transport, or anything else that could be done along this route, please reach out to us immediately.

Do not hesitate. There is very limited time to coordinate, and once plans are set, we won’t be able to adjust.

Message us ASAP if this applies to you.

📣 Update: We have a plan in place.

One of our volunteers will be traveling to Missouri and will be able to transport her onward to Cordy’s Castle. This gives her a smooth, low-stress path to the specialized care she needs.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who reached out, shared the post, and offered ideas or help. The support and willingness of this community truly makes a difference.

Thank you all for helping us get this girl one step closer to stability and proper care.

🛣️ Seeking Transport Support for a Glider With Special Needs

We are trying to determine the best way to get a sugar glider in Coweta (near Tulsa) to specialized care, and we are hoping the community may be able to help with transport.

This girl is currently in her fourth home and has been experiencing stress seizures. Her most recent vet advised that she should never be housed with other gliders. We would like to have her further evaluated by experienced hands, but we are very far away. Her current owner is willing to drive up to 3 hours to help get her where she needs to go.

Transport Goal: Jeffersonville, IN

Our primary focus is getting her to Shannon at Cordy's Castle Wildlife Rescue.

Shannon is able to drive up to 2 hours to meet transport. The total trip is about 9.5 hours, which already cuts out more than half of the distance. This leaves a 4.5 hour transport leg that would need to be covered between Conway, MO and Grayville, IL, just before the Indiana border.

We are open to creative ideas and solutions, but ultimately our goal is for this girl to land at Cordy’s Castle or Sugar Haven Rescue, and to do so in the smoothest, least stressful way possible. Ideally, this would involve no transport with other animals, as minimizing stress is extremely important for her wellbeing.

We also require no smoking inside the vehicle during transport, which is our standard expectation for all animals in our care.

If you are anywhere along this route and think you may be able to help cover any portion of that leg, please reach out. Even partial help could make this possible.

If you’re not able to help directly, sharing this post is still a big help and very appreciated.

Thank you for reading and for any support you may be able to offer.

Sharing this again today.

So far, we’ve raised $170, which means we still have $1,330 to go to reach our $1,500 goal. Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated.

There are a lot of medical needs happening all at once right now, and it’s overwhelming. The care these gliders need is not simple. This is going to require extensive testing and ongoing treatment, and we need the funding in place to handle it properly.

Once this goal is met, we have another fun giveaway planned as an additional thank you to our supporters.

I’m really hoping we don’t lose any more gliders. We’re doing everything we can, but support right now truly matters.

If you’re able to help or share, we are incredibly grateful.

I do owe everyone an update video from my trip this past weekend, and I promise it is coming. Thank you for your patience while I focus on getting these gliders stabilized.

Every dollar matters right now. These gliders did not get here by accident, and they deserve a real chance at recovery.
