Here’s a little insight into my frigid weather format, just in case it helps someone out dealing with the misery 😄
I fill up a 110gal water tank in the middle of my barn aisle and hang a tank heater in it. Then I can just dip out of it and put warm water in each stalls’ water tub several times a day. This full tank will likely last for this brief bitter snap, so I probably won’t have to do a bunch of hose draining.
I also pour about 1/2-3/4 gallon of warm (ish 😝) water in each feed tub before I feed, so they get hydration in their feed as well. Plus, I add a handful of loose salt to each horses’ feed to encourage them to drink.
Hope y’all have all your hatches battened- it’ll be over soon! 🥶
