Your SENIOR DOG is NOT A BAD DOG!

As dogs age, grooming can become more difficult for them than when they were younger. Your dog can have been the best grooming client for many years and problems can start happening. But with that said, you're dog is NOT A BAD DOG, they just need a little more time now to be groomed and adjustments the groomer has to make so they're comfortable.
Grooming is a necessity so let's work together in making it a good experience for the rest of their time with us.

-Arthritis & joint pain is a big one. Dogs can't stand as long as they used to, it hurts to lift their legs or cut nails. So they may require more breaks and/or support.

-Weakness is also a big thing. Dogs start to lose muscle mass and aren't as stable as they used to be causing trouble standing for long periods. Again they will require more breaks and time.

-Hearing & vision has become weaker. Noises and sights that previously didn't bother your older guy or gal are suddenly very scary.

-Increased anxiety and cognitive decline. It happens, and your senior might be nervous being away from their safe place or unable to tolerate procedures that have been completely normal to them their whole life.

The list goes on. But I bring this up because I have many pups that are aging. As they age they change. I inform you of the changes and how they are acting while thet are with me not so you feel bad. I tell you so you are aware of whats happening with your friend. I want you to stay informed so we can communicate what is best for them while they are in my care.

DO NOT be afraid to ask questions or let me know of any changes they are going through, it will help make the grooming experience as comfortable as possible got them.

New fear unlocked.
I stepped into a tick "nest" (really a cluster of freshly hatched baby ticks) Monday without realizing. My left leg has over 30 tiny bites. I'm posting here so everyone knows to be careful when walking in high grass or the woods & if you do and you start getting itchy after, check that spot right away and very closely because you can't even see them. I'm not exactly sure where it happened, but there were so many 🤢

Today marks 7 years since I opened the salon!!!

These have been the best 7 years. I have met so many amazing people and honestly some sucky people (that’s business). I’ve made some lifelong friends along the way & some really cool dogs. This business has been so great to me and helped me make so many AMAZING MEMORIES. I want to thank everyone who has ever supported me along my journey.
You rock and I wouldn’t be here without you!
