Spring is here and one of the main things you will see with the spring showers is thrush.

🔎 How to Recognize Thrush Early:
•Black or dark gray discharge in the frog
•Strong, foul odor
•Soft, ragged, or eroded frog tissue
•Tenderness when picking out the hoof

Catching it early makes treatment so much easier! Here are just a couple of things you can keep on hand to help with those treatments for a clean healthy frog and hoof.

Trims aren’t just about looks — they’re a big part of keeping horses healthy and comfortable.

• Horse hooves grow all the time, usually about ¼ inch a month. That means regular trims are a must.
• Most horses need their hooves trimmed every 6–8 weeks, depending on growth, workload, and environment.
• Balanced hooves = better movement. Proper trimming helps prevent joint strain and soreness.
• Hooves that go too long can crack, chip, or flare, which can lead to pain or lameness.
• Even barefoot horses still need trims to stay sound and balanced.
