Hay tests from 1st-4th crop all came back great! We test all our hay not just for relative feed value, but for yeast and mold as well. The yeast and mold causes dust which later can cause heaves. We love the idea of wrapping all our hay, individual bales as well as the line wrap.

All of our pens were cleaned/scraped and piles hauled out on the fields a couple weeks ago. Such a wonderful feeling ! We strive to have the cleanest pens and keep up on manure management throughout the entire year. This goes for clean shelters too. We also bed the shelters when the temps drop for a nice warm place to hang out or lay down.

Horses came off pasture about a month ago and get moved to the bean field where we spread the round bale feeders all around. This helps with keeping the mud down, space for everyone to roam as well as allow the pasture to rest and grow back.

Our smaller pens are 1-2 acres they are considered more as dry lots. We have 4 or less horses in the smaller private pens.

One of my boarders started making these bucket feeders awhile back and she does sell them if you are interested ! This has been an amazing invention and has worked so well for us. The horses get used to the bucket feeders very fast, especially if they are food motivated, and then the owners never have to worry about their horse getting their ration, medication or supplements.

Here at Devils Lake Farm, we take pride in our fencing amongst other things. We are constantly doing upkeep on all of our pens to prevent any issues. Our fencing is always up and safe. Each fall we have our fencers come and go through everything and fix what ever is necessary. The rest of the year we keep wires tight and replace insulators or anything else that might come up as well. We are currently working on a few pens that were put in 20 years ago. No real reason or safety concern just preventing problems before they may occur!! 🤗 🐴

4th crop is done ! Working on getting all pens scraped up for hauling manure out soon. Now building a few new shelters for some more upgrades. 🥰 🐴

Beautiful evening. Beans are huge ! 4th crop is going to be ready soon. Despite all the rain this year, our manure and mud management in all the pens is working phenomenal ! Happy horses !!

This was the best Halloween ride yet! Perfect weather! Thank you to everyone that participated! I’ll post more once I get pictures of individual costumes. Everyone did a great job!
