Our Story

Welcome to Diamond J Ranch - Natural Horsemanship & Registered Quarter Horses, where we strive to start all horses the correct way and finish started horses with the right goal in mind. We also breed and raise quality registered quarter horses that are correct, nicely bred, and good minded.

Our training success is mostly by word of mouth, and we’re happy to say that most of our clients are returning horse owners, that want their newly purchases started or need to have a refresher done. We have made many friends along the way with our business over the past 7 years and are always pleased to hear from them on how their horses are doing and their progress. We know that their is a trainer for everyone, that’s why we prompt horse owners to come to the ranch so we can demonstrate what the ending goal is and what we expect out of our horses. We always have a goal for horses that come to the ranch for training, but we also treat each horse as an individual and know that each horse learns at a different pace and time frame, that’s why we don’t rush or hurry them, for we want to lay a solid foundation that you can build on with success. All horses that come to the ranch for training gets a strong foundation of groundwork, for groundwork is the building block to success and safety down the road. We feel its important that all c**ts are started correctly and be exposed to as much as possible, plus putting solid miles under them. We believe if a c**t is started correctly, you can take that c**t into any discipline and excel, from ranch work, performance, or everyday trail riding. Its not about starting a c**t to us, its about doing the best we can with that c**t and that the owners are satisfied with the end results. We like our c**ts to have good ground manners, work lightly and correctly in a bit or hackamore, listen to body cues on the ground and under saddle, be responsive, but calm on the ground or under saddle and be a good working partner.

We also give groundwork and riding lessons to students of all ages. We like helping beginners gain more knowledge and how to correctly ride a horse or help older experienced riders gain more confidence and control. And also teach our students to properly work a horse on the ground, so that they can excel with their horsemanship journey and learn how to communicate with a horse, to form a solid partnership.

Our Registered Quarter Horse breeding program is also very important to us. Our broodmares run the bloodlines of High Brow Cat, Dual Pep, Smart Little Lena, Playgun, Doc O’Lena, Freckles Pl***oy, Doc Quixote, Doc Bar, Peppy San Badger, Peptoboonsmal, Shining Spark, Smart Chic O’lena, and Doc’s Hickory. All of our mares are started under saddle and have a few years of work under them, that way we truly know the mare’s mind, to see if we want that mare in our breeding program and to find the right stud to fit that mare.
