🐾 Reminder: Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic! 🐾

We’re teaming up with Heart of Maine Mobile Veterinary Services to offer a Rabies Vaccination Clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday, July 12th, 9 AM–12 PM at the Elks Lodge in Old Town!

💉 $25 per pet – Cash only
🐶 Dogs must be leashed
🐱 Cats must be in carriers

⏰ Schedule:
• 9–11 AM: Open to all pets
• 11 AM–12 PM: Reserved for sensitive dogs

No pre-registration is needed—just bring your pet and proof of prior rabies vaccination if you have it. Let’s keep our pets and community safe!

Hope everyone stayed cool today!

Parts of Maine could get into the mid 90's today!
This is a rare temperature to see in our state so we wanted to remind you that your pet could BURN their paws on asphalt today.

If it's too hot for your bare feet to walk on the pavement or sand/stone, it's too hot for your pet.

Avoid walking them on hot surfaces today to avoid an ER visit tonight or tomorrow.

Will you be going on hikes, adventures, and making some amazing summer memories? A little bit of planning goes a long way. An extra leash, hydrogen peroxide, Benadryl tablets are some of the things that could be REALLY handy in case of emergency. We made a list of some of the best things to have in a pet first aid kit. Consider having a mini one for your car and one for out at camp.

This is a gentle reminder that grain free diets may increase your dog's risk of cardiomyopathy. Choosing a grain free diet in your dog should be a decision made with your veterinarian. Dogs with underlying cardiac disease may have a higher risk than those without genetic or pre-exisiting cardiac disease.

There has been a number of dogs eating grain free diets with a higher proportion of peas, lentils or other legumes and main ingredients developing an often fatal dilated cardiomyopathy. Although the science behind what is the actual trigger is still unknown and likely complex, please make an informed decision when choosing a grain free diet.

Certain breed such as Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, New Foundlands, Saint Bernards, and Irish Wolfhounds are predisposed to dilated cardiomyopathy.
