🍭 Candy Update!

Candy and her family made the big move to San Diego last month! She and Brianna took the drive together and are now loving their new life in sunny California with Brianna’s husband☀️

Brianna first met Candy while working at , our amazing partners who have helped us with 10 dogs, and two of those pups have even been adopted by their own staff! 💕

We’re beyond happy for Candy. She’s come such a long way, and seeing her thriving in her new chapter fills our hearts with joy. 🐾💖

We’ve now taken 96 dogs off the property, an incredible milestone! Out of them all, Bandit, Princess, and Angel are still in our care.

Candy and Gabby were with us the longest, reaching nearly 14 months before finding their forever homes, and every moment of waiting was worth it. ❤️ Both are beautiful black medium-to-large pittie mixes, which can make finding homes more challenging, but their happy endings remind us why we never give up.

🧸Bandit, Princess and Angel are ready for adoption. We are hopeful that their families are out there just like the rest.

We had Missy in our care for eight months. She and Princess were the only two dogs legally removed from the Bandera hoarding property. Missy has been with her amazing foster all this time, Angelia, and just over a week ago, some of our other favorite humans offered to take her for the weekend — which quickly turned into something more.

We’ve now officially transferred Missy to our wonderful partner rescue, , who have already helped us with ten dogs and puppies from that same property. As a small grassroots rescue, we recognize both our strengths and our limits, and we know Missy’s best chance at finding her forever home is through them.

Jen, who has been fostering Missy, is also a foster with FBF, so this transition felt like the perfect fit. We know Missy is in the best hands, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s been part of her journey.

It’s definitely bittersweet, this project is still going on, 2 years next month, we still have more dogs to get out of that situation.

We had such a great time today supporting the amazing AAPAW San Antonio💕 They partner with over 50 rescues, providing vital support like spay/neuter services, heartworm treatments, and even a Good Samaritan program.

AAPAW has been a huge help to our own rescue, Bandera Dogs Rescue Mission, and we truly believe in lifting each other up because we’re all in this together. 🐾

It’s been a beautiful, peaceful day surrounded by nature (and plenty of deer 🦌). We can’t wait to be back next year!

Hey there, it’s me, Bandit! 🐾
Can you believe I’ve been with Bandera Dogs Rescue Mission for a year already . Time flies when you’re surrounded by good people (and plenty of treats)!

Today, I’m hanging out at Spay Neuter Network getting my vaccines up-to-date, staying healthy and handsome.

I’m a laid-back pup with a big heart and an even bigger nose for adventure. My favorite hobby? Sniffing absolutely everything. Once we’re besties, belly rubs and scratchies are a daily requirement! I’ve been living my best life with my awesome fosters Pup Pup and Away, but I’m ready to find my forever home.

Here’s what makes me happiest:
🐶 All the treats, seriously, all of them.
🚶‍♂️ Short, easy walks.
🌳 A cozy home with a yard to explore (bonus points if it’s single-story, I had major spinal surgery in May and prefer fewer stairs).

I’m great with respectful kiddos who understand that I’m a gentle senior guy, and I get along best with friendly female dogs who like their personal space, just like I do. I’m single, after all, and I like to mingle. 😉

If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion with a heart full of love, I might just be your guy. 💛

Missy’s Weekend Adventure! 🌸

Today, Missy gets to go on a weekend getaway with our good friend Jen. Missy has been in the loving care of her amazing foster, Angelia Tate, since February, and she’s been thriving. Angelia currently fosters both Missy and Princess, and we’re so incredibly grateful for all she does. 💖

Missy is a sweet senior girl with a calm, easygoing personality, and she’s fully ready for adoption! We can’t wait to share updates from her weekend adventures soon. 🐾✨

Day 4: With Distemper
Momma Sophia seems to be doing fairly well. Her breathing is getting better and all have had a really good appetite. We do believe Mittens was allergic to one of the antibiotics, so we stopped them last night and he looks better this morning.
Each kitten has gained .5 pounds since Monday so praying for the very best. 🫶🏼 Lil Peanut waits for us each morning at the crate door.

Day 3 since the first obvious signs that the kittens were very sick. 💔

All this time, we thought it was just Coccidia, we had no idea it was distemper until the vet confirmed it on Monday.

Thankfully, we were already doing everything we could: sub-q fluids, Nutri-Cal, heating pads, all the things to keep them comfortable and give them a fighting chance. Sadly, most of the babies didn’t make it… but Mitty and Peanut are still with us. 💕

We know the odds aren’t great, but for now, we’re cherishing every single moment with them.
Today was a big one, Peanut drank milk for the first time that wasn’t from his momma. 🍼

Momma Sophia continues to do so well, patient, gentle, and incredibly sweet. Once she’s fully healed, she’ll be so ready for the loving home she deserves. 🏡💖
