It is with immense sadness and regret that Nexus Veterinary Specialists will be closing. This closure is intended to be temporary, but as of today we do not have a re-opening date.

We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the referring community, clients, pets, and vendors for their continued trust, loyalty, and support over the past two years. It has been our greatest pleasure to provide quality orthopedic, internal medicine, and neurological care to the pets of the greater Baltimore area. We hope that we have fulfilled our mission in providing the best care possible.

In uncertainty of that the future holds, we are optimistic to serve this amazing community again. Once we ascertain a re-opening date, we will be sure to provide a notification. Should you need to access your medical records or have any questions, please call 832-776-5574 or email [email protected].

🇺🇸 In Remembrance...

"September 11 impressed upon us that life is a precious gift…. And I think we all have a duty to devote at least a small portion of our daily lives to ensuring that neither America nor the world ever forgets September 11.”

🐾 Did you know that September is Animal Pain Awareness Month?

⚠️ Animals suffer from pain just like people do. Pain comes in many forms: surgical pain, arthritis, and cancer related pain... just to name a few. Acute pain is obvious and distressing while chronic pain can be subtle and masked as “getting old” or “slowing down.”

📌 There are many options to treat the various causes of pain in animals including pain medications, physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, laser therapy, and therapeutic massage. The proclamation of this month is an effort to encourage pain management for all animal species through education and advocacy.

🎊 Congrats to our Kudos Spotlight Winner, Miriam!

There is no one single Kudos that would have determined how deserving Miriam is of our immense gratitude.

Words cannot express how lucky our team feels every single day to have her as our Practice Manager. Miriam steers us with humility, compassion, and integrity- all the best characteristics of a good leader. We couldn't have wished for a more supportive, kind, or caring person to guide us through our workdays.

Thank you, Miriam, for everything you do and have done for our team.

To create a complete picture of a pet’s health issues, Veterinary Internists collect and match the many pieces of information from the patient’s history, clinical signs, lab results, imaging studies, and special testing. Internal Medicine Specialists work closely with your family veterinarian to help provide complete veterinary care for your pet by giving second opinions on difficult cases, providing specialized hospitalization and therapies if required, and performing complex diagnostic procedures.

When your pet is suffering from a severe illness, it's important to act fast and find a Board-Certified expert you can trust.
When it's time to call an Internal Medicine Specialist, you will find no better source of expertise than our Board-Certified Internist, Dr. Cara Steele. Dr. Steele is a highly experienced Board-Certified Internist, animal lover, and "puzzle solver" of advanced diagnosis.

Sometimes you just need a good laugh and for us that often entails making cute flyers of employee pets.

Also, we really do think Karl would make an excellent Attorney of Paw.

National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day reminds us that cats require just as much care as we do! Just think about it for a moment: your kids go to the pediatrician once a year, you see your dentist every 6 months, and even your car gets an oil change every 5000 miles. So why aren’t people taking their cats to the veterinarian for routine care?
It seems hard to believe, but according to the American Humane Society, cats go the veterinarian half as often as dogs and many people only take their cat to the vet when their cat is sick.
The fact is cats get sick too! While they are masters at hiding illness, they also suffer from many of the same disease as their canine and human counterparts. Veterinarians can often detect health conditions during routine checkups long before they become noticeable.
The goal of routine medical care is to prevent preventable illnesses and to detect diseases early while they are easiest to treat. Take advantage of the exceptional veterinary care available and bring your cat to the vet!
