The Russian Salon Dog (also known as a Rusalka) is a rare, purebred dog from Russia, created in the mid nineties. While similar in size, they lack a hyper “terrier” personality. They are very healthy, loyal, playful, childlike, and affectionate. They do great in small living spaces, with people of all ages. Russian Salon Dogs come in many colors, but the original, primary colors, are reds and creams. Breeders are working hard to perfect a long silk coat that does not tangle. Anastasia is a silk coat, red and white Rusalka. Russian Salon Dogs are both accepted and shown in conformation dog shows in FCI countries under group 11. The breed is taking the correct steps, and moving toward AKC recognition, but they have not yet been accepted, as they are still very new to the USA. There are only about 25 Russian Salon Dogs residing in our entire nation! All of my purebred Rusalkas are fully DNA tested, dual pedigreed, and registered according to the very strict conformation standards set forth by the Russian Salon Dog Registry of America. They are in charge of verifying pedigree and registry here in the USA, and are the keepers of the breed stud book, recording the American lineage of Russian Salon Dogs with bloodlines that come from all over the world. In the USA, Russian Salon Dogs can be registered with FCPR/FCI in Puerto Rico, and are both registered and shown in IABCA-International All Breed Canine Assoc., Inc. Move over toy dog breeds; here come the Rusalkas! 🥰
