Here we go! Mance getting dried. Today, we are doing a conditioner rinse followed by a full bath. He's not done - this is just the first step!

For the conditioner rinse, to help moitserize the coat, you rinse the dog, brush conditioner in, and blow dry them until they're bone dry! That can take a while, for sure, even with a high powered dryer. Worth it! It's why having a dog that can relax is super important. At home I also will ask him to lay down on the ground and roll over so I can blow dry his belly for plain blowouts (so no bath). Understandably, he doesn't want to roll over when on a grooming table 🤣

In my household, grooming behavior is VERY important! Grooming can be very intensive for these guys, thanks to their thick, water resistant coat.

Mance is incredibly solid from grooming. From bathing, to blow drying, to nail time, he takes it all in stride and isn't bothered at all.

Here he is on the table getting blow dried. He is so unbothered he's just chilling, without being hooked to the grooming table. Patient and sweet, he loves the treats and praise that he gets.

I'll be uploading a short video of his behavior getting his neck blown out in a minute. I'll give you a hint: he is totally unbothered!

If you're in the area, you can catch us in Richmond, IN on March 1 and 2 as we go into the show ring for the first time as a Champion, and in the Rally-Obedience ring for his first sports trial!

Last weekend, Mance got to come with to the UKC Eastern Classic. We didn't show, but we had a few people that wanted to meet him and go over him. He did amazing! His temperament is phenomenal and he has such a clear head. Can't wait to show him next year.

Not just that, though, but we went ahead and did the SPOT test with UKC (similar to AKC's CGC) and not only did he do it, but he got his SPOT-ON which means he had an OUTSTANDING performance! I'm particularly impressed by his leave it with the toys that we had to weave very closely to. He likes toys, especially smaller ones, and these were his favourite type.

Creek walking with Misha.

Did you know that swimming and walking in water really helps build muscle? It's especially useful for any dog that has joint pain! Misha has diagnosed severe hip dysplasia, and we are walking the creek regularly to help her build muscle and keep her stable. Appropriate exercise and pain management are the keys to a happy life for a dysplastic dog.

Misha was my first Caucasian Shepherd, and is a beloved pet in my home.

I have a 2024 Spring litter in the works for Beulah. I'm currently choosing between two sires. Both sires are champions, and health tested. We would expect short or long coats.

I will have a more detailed announcement when I have finally chosen the sire.
