Chocolate may be a treat for us, but it can be dangerous for our pets. 🍫🐶🐱

For , remember that chocolate contains substances that pets cannot process the same way we do. Dark and baking chocolate are especially concerning because they contain higher concentrations of these toxins.

Keep chocolate safely out of paws' reach, and if you suspect your pet has eaten any, contact your veterinarian promptly.

Halloween should be full of treats, not unexpected trips to the vet! 👻🐾

From tempting candy and spooky decorations to costumes, open doors, and lots of visitors, Halloween can bring a few extra hazards for our pets. Keep sweets out of reach, make sure costumes are comfortable, and give nervous pets a quiet place to relax away from the festivities.

A little preparation can help everyone enjoy a safe and happy Halloween! 🎃

Please welcome Dr. Allison Blake to the Pet Referral Plus team!

Dr. Blake joins us as our staff hospitalist, and she’s a true St. Louis native. She grew up in Manchester, graduated from Parkway South, and earned her DVM from the University of Missouri in 2001. She then spent nearly two decades at Clark Animal Hospital in Kirkwood before moving into relief practice, where she focused on building lasting relationships with staff and clients.

As our hospitalist, Dr. Blake helps care for surgical patients and supports our team in improving pets’ lives every day.

Outside the clinic, her home is a full house: husband Cory, kids Ryan and Mallory, dogs Percy and Willow, cats Finn, Lily and Oliver, and a horse named Scoop. You’ll find her cheering on the Cardinals and Chiefs most weekends, riding Scoop, or enjoying a movie night with her family.

Welcome, Dr. Blake! We’re so glad to have you.
