Ticks may be tiny, but the diseases they carry can have a big impact on your pet’s health. Lyme disease is transmitted through the bite of an infected tick and can lead to fever, lameness, joint pain, kidney complications, and other serious health concerns if left untreated.

This SNAP 4Dx Plus test result shows a triple positive: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Heartworm.

These results are a sobering reminder of the risks ticks and mosquitoes pose to our pets.

Here’s what these diseases mean:

🔸Lyme Disease: Caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, transmitted by ticks. Can lead to joint pain, fever, and kidney issues.

🔸Anaplasmosis: A tick-borne illness that can cause lethargy, fever, and bleeding complications.

🔸Heartworm Disease: Transmitted by mosquitoes, heartworm affects the heart and lungs and can be fatal if left untreated. We’re seeing an alarming rise in heartworm cases, especially in dogs who have relocated from southern states where the disease is more common.

Prevention is key! Monthly preventatives can protect your dog from these serious and potentially life threatening diseases. A simple chew or topical medication goes a long way in keeping your pet healthy.

Annual testing is just as important. Even dogs on prevention can occasionally become infected, especially if doses are missed or if exposure levels are high.

Did you know arthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain and decreased mobility in pets? Many dogs and cats slow down gradually, making it easy to mistake the signs as “just getting older,” when they may actually have some discomfort.

Common signs of arthritis can include:
• Difficulty getting up or lying down
• Hesitation with stairs or jumping
• Limping or stiffness, especially after rest
• Sleeping more or decreased activity
• Changes in mood or behavior
