Eden’s main mission is to help people achieve access to better health through safer gardening techniques and local, organic and “un-conventio

nal” food. Open to the public seasonally, for over 10 years Eden's Organic Garden Center hosted a small neighborhood farmers' market each 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday (April - Dec.). Eden’s Garden CSA Farm is a producer that grows right here on the back 14 acres behind the house and garden center and offers product through a CSA membership program. You can also special order organic gardening products, organic animal feed (Coyote Creek), all natural local feeds (Muenster Milling) and will find lots of friendly chickens on the loose to entertain you while you shop. (when memberships are available)

After day after day after day of heavy rain topped off by 6 inches overnight, it was just a little too much for this old oak tree. All of these old oak trees took a hit back in early 2008 when a tornado twisted through here, topping most of the oaks’ branches. It spared them at the time, and so I don’t know if this is residual damage from all those years ago, I doubt it. But a mighty giant has fallen and the poor squirrel has lost one of his freeways - and I have yet another mess to clean up.

We had a rough night in DFW and beyond. The rain woke me up about 2 I think. I saw electrical flashes along my neighbors property, still not sure what that was but I was afraid his place was gonna catch fire. Might have been the power line. Rain - Finally slowed down enough so I could fall asleep about 4:30 I guess and next thing I know it is after 7. Everyone was soggy but safe outside. This old barn just serves as a causeway for flash floods any more. The grading is so messed up over here and all I have ever done is make more mess. We take it a day at a time.

Sauna Next Week…

A strong ridge of high pressure will build across Texas next week, bringing the hottest temperatures we’ve seen in quite some time. With all of the recent rainfall, plenty of moisture will remain in the atmosphere, causing humidity levels to stay elevated.

The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will make it feel like a sauna outside, especially during the afternoon hours. Heat index values are expected to climb into the triple digits, increasing the risk of heat related illnesses for anyone spending extended time outdoors.

Make sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks if working outside, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. The hottest conditions look to arrive during the middle and latter part of next week. ☀️🥵

So glad so many CSA members braved the rain train to pick up squash, etc., this AM. While a couple of them were here, we heard rustling and saw a hen pop down from the top shelf of a cabinet. I said I bet she was laying an egg - and sure nuff! A baker’s dozen awaited me to climb up on a step stool to find them…making them Top Shelf Eggs! 😉
