Farmer Tim JUST added a generous amount of Nitrogen heavy feathermeal to a section of soil, right before we received about 5 1/2” of rain.

Soil test is showing virtually clear for N.

Farmer Bev, of Tested Seeds &Plants, explained that while feathermeal IS indeed a slow release N, it requires biological activity to break it down and make it available. That doesn’t happen very well when the soil is flooded.

No sooner did the truck pull out with the old, unused propane tank, (saving me nearly $100/yr in rent for something we never use), Badger found himself a new place to dig a cooling off off spot.

The heat is on - shade your crops with a light cover cloth or elevated shade cloth (don't put that shade cloth DOWN on the plants, it gets HOT!), and give the roots a light drink to keep them cool - but don't OVER-water everything, either. Plants will slow down growth, but keeping them a little cooler with mulch and/or shade will help keep your summer crops growing!

Peppers, eggplant, melons, okra, cucuzza, long beans are a few things that don't mind the heat so much.

Keep yourself hydrated - fall will be here sooner than we think! So it's time to get those fall and winter seeds ordered - think about signing up for our seed starting class and plan those gardens!

🌿🐝 Thinking About Fall Classes at the Farm! 🐝🌿

We’re thinking about holding a couple of beginner-friendly workshops here at the farm this fall and would love your input!

👩‍🌾 Beginner Gardening – Just in time for fall planting, we’ll cover the basics of seed starting, soil, timing, what grows well here, and how to get started no matter your space.

🐝 Intro to Honeybees – Ever thought about keeping bees? This class will give you a hands-on look at what it takes to start and care for a hive.

Would you (or someone you know) be interested in either of these?
Let us know in the comments or send a message — we’re trying to get a feel for what folks want to learn this season!

🌱 Big things are growing — and we need your support! 🌱

We’re heading into our 17th season at Eden’s, but the future of the farm is at a turning point. While we continue working to reverse the city’s rezoning denial allowing for the creation of an agri-village, the work (and the bills) don’t stop. Animals to feed, equipment to fix, fields to tend…

CSA memberships are open now for fall season, and every sign-up helps keep this local, sustainable farm alive and thriving during this critical time.

Real Food, Grown with Integrity

Eden’s main mission is to help people achieve access to better health through safer gardening techniques and local, organic and “un-conventional” food.

Open to the public seasonally, Eden's Organic Garden Center hosts a small neighborhood farmers' market each 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday (April - Dec.). We are a producers only and only producers that practice un-conventional (traditional) or certified organic growing methods are welcome. The garden center will stock some produce from local producers who can’t make it to our market and as available, offer meats & eggs from animals raised on grass & without synthetic chemicals. All of our producers are Non GMO, traditional farmers using un-conventional methods like letting land lay fallow, using animal products to fertilize and common sense to work with Nature, not against her.

Eden’s Garden CSA Farm is one of those producers and grows right here on the back 14 acres behind the garden center and offers product through a CSA membership program and sells during Market Day.

You will also find organic gardening products, organic animal feed (Coyote Creek), all natural local feeds (Muenster Milling) and lots of friendly chickens on the loose to entertain you while you shop. Come on out to the farm for Market Day, join our CSA and shake the hand that feeds you! Real Food, Grown with Integrity.
