When she was only three months old, she was hit by a car and left on the side of the road to die. A woman brought her into the nearest veterinary hospital and asked them to euthanize her. When they opened the box that she was in, they weren't even sure if she was alive. When they saw her, her leg was badly mangled and up over her head and she was unresponsive. So, the vet administered the anesthet

ic to have her put down and something amazing happened, she stood up! After seeing this, the vet knew that he had to try to save her. Since her back leg was too badly injured, he was forced to amputate it. After about two weeks, she was back to running, jumping, and playing. She was back to her normal spunky self. Shortly after surgery, I found her and instantly fell in love and adopted her. She now lives with me and her two brothers, Jack and ReRe. She is adjusting wonderfully and loves her new home. I just wanted to make this page to spread awareness for disabled pets and hopefully, help find them homes and give them happy lives. I want Shenzi to be a motivational story to everyone, so that they know to never give up!

This past weekend we had a dear friend and fellow cat lover pass away from sudden health complications.

One of her final wishes was that we find loving homes for her beloved cats and our community is doing our best to try and find homes for these sweet and loving cats. We are deeply saddened by her passing and are doing everything we can to honor her wishes.

Here’s a heartwarming story for you today:

Buzzy is one of our rescue success stories from last year. He survived an attack by two large pit bulls and almost didn’t make it, but here he is after making a full recovery and finding a forever home at our rescue.

Now, Buzzy comforts all of the foster kittens that come through the rescue. These kittens have made a huge improvement on Buzzy’s behavior and Buzzy helps these kittens develop a sense of safety, companionship, and love.

Many of these kittens have survived traumatic events and are very skittish and sometimes even antisocial when they are brought into the rescue, at least until they meet Buzzy.

While these two may seem like an unlikely duo, allowing Buzzy to work with these kittens has given Buzzy new friends and a sense of purpose and these kittens are now much more secure and friendly, greatly increasing their chance of getting adopted.

CCADT is the only non-profit that has been alongside of us assisting the community's pets at every disaster dating back to 2016. Fire season is upon us, and if you want to help animals in our community when they need it most, please take a look at the attached flyer for their upcoming training and recruitment event.
