Howdy Farm Friends! A lovely woman left a pair of prescriptive eyeglasses in the Farm Stand last week... 👓 Clear acetate frames and lens. I'm sorry I didn't notice them beforehand, they were safely tucked behind some items on the counter by a customer thereafter. Please pick them up at your earliest convenience. They are hanging on the black wrought iron rack that holds the preserve jars. 👓

Hellooooooo Poultry Pals & Farm Friends! Happy Autumn! This is absolutely my favorite time of year (in Bakersfield). The temperatures become comfortable again; the air is cleaner; the kids are back in school; and I begin my (mad-scientist) breeding and hatching for the upcoming poultry season. The anticipation of our new creations is so exciting, I practically campout in front of the incubators!

We have a few more Pullets and Cockerels to rehome before they begin to lay & fertilize, so if you’re seeking eggs right away – NOW is the time to grab them. We also have a few birds that we’re selling in pairs of 1) Pullet & 1) Cockerel. Both sets are remarkably unique in their coloring, plumage or breed, and will undoubtedly produce exceptional offspring. If you want to hatch out your own chicks or your home-schoolers want to attempt their own agricultural project, I encourage you to consider one of these sets!

**Read on for a GREAT sale in the Farm Stand too…

Hello Poultry Pals! We’ve got some beautiful ladies that are in dire need of new homes as laying is in, they’re very near future. Once they start to lay, we keep them to avoid disrupting their laying cycles. So, if you’d like fresh eggs quickly, now’s the time to grab a few of these hearty heavy layers.

We are running a special this week on Buff Orpington’s, a breed that’s in my top 4 favorite-must have’s. Buff’s are exceptionally calm, friendly and docile, they’re often called the Golden Retriever of the chicken world! They have the “fluff factor” with soft, dense feathering and cotton-ball bums, weigh between 8-10lbs at adulthood, lay about 280-290 eggs per year, and are dual purpose birds for meat and eggs. This week, Buff Orpington’s are Buy One – Get One FREE.

A special thank you to those that came to grab roosters during our free giveaway. We were able to rehome about 70 young men. Not only do I thank you, I trust our very sweet and patient neighbors, thank you as well! These studs-in-the-making went to many area farms and homesteads; we even had a few customers from Oregon, Nevada and Arizona pop in. Anyone willing to travel over 800 miles for a rooster is certainly going to give it a great home!
