If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, this week’s featured pet might be the perfect match.

Tara Nelson from the Bakersfield Animal Care Center recently introduced Bella, a lovable seven-month-old Border Collie who’s looking for her forever home.

Bella stands out for her friendly and social personality. She gets along well with people and other dogs, and she’s currently sharing a kennel with another dog at the shelter. Despite coming in as part of a litter where all the other puppies have already been adopted, Bella is still waiting for her chance to find the right family.

She was briefly adopted before being returned due to circumstances unrelated to her behavior, which means she’s already ready to go home with someone new. Staff say she’s affectionate, playful, and eager to bond—making her a great fit for many types of households.

At her age, Bella is in a perfect stage for training and adapting to a new environment. Whether it’s learning routines, building habits, or simply becoming part of the family, she’s ready to grow alongside her future owners.

The Bakersfield Animal Care Center encourages potential adopters to visit in person and spend time with Bella through a meet-and-greet. Families can even bring their current pets to help ensure a good match.

The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and no appointment is needed. However, those interested are encouraged to visit as soon as possible, as animals cannot be placed on hold.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion, Bella might just be the one waiting for you.

Pet Palace has a few new Royal Pets in!
Fancy Crested Gecko 🦎:
This little guy loves a humid enclosure and a nice, comfortable temperature between 72°-75°. They are sociable, small, and very cute!
California Kingsnake 🐍:
These snakes grow to about 2-5ft in length, typically have a docile temperament, and are a good beginner snake due to their easy care needs.
Giant Blonde Brazilian Tarantula 🕷️:
While beautiful, these tarantulas have a short-temper and are quick to be defensive. Despite that, this tarantula would make a beautiful addition to a collection of someone who is dedicated to giving them their proper care.
Leopard Gecko 🦎:
This specific one is a Blizzard morph, giving it a unique coloring. Leopard geckos are another pet that is relatively easy to care for, and they are very entertaining to watch when they hunt their food.

Pet Palace has a Savannah monitor in. These guys are not what people consider a good beginner reptile but can make good pets if you have the time to work with them and do extensive research before purchasing one.

Savannah monitors are a bigger lizard. They get about 4 feet, and they are very active and need a huge enclosure. They also love to dig a burrow so deep substrate is very important to keep these beautiful monitors happy and healthy.

These monitors’ diets mostly consist of insects. Not what most expect from a monitor but this species is very prone to fatty liver disease and obesity.

Savannah monitors love a very hot basking spot of 130-150 degrees, but heating lamps should be kept away from the monitors reach to avoid burns.
