PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY: Harmful Algae Bloom Present at Sandy Pond – Issued September 8, 2022
Sandy Pond (including the Town Beach) is CLOSED effective immediately for all swimming and recreational activities due to the presence of a harmful algae bloom known as cyanobacteria per an inspection by the Board of Health and confirmed by the State. Sandy Pond (including the Town Beach) is closed until further notice. For more information, please visit the Town’s website at www.ayer.ma.us. Yay Julie!

Congratulations to Julie Thomas! She is the Animal Control Officer in Ayer and received the most recommendations under our Facebook post regarding experiences with ACO’s. We were fortunate enough to see her today when she brought us four orphaned baby bunnies. She is such a caring and kind person. When she came, we gifted her with a new carrier, a Petsmart gift card, heating packs and a bunch of other supplies to help her when she receives calls about injured and orphaned wildlife!

We are so thankful to her and to all of the wonderful animal control officers out there that work so hard to help us and our local wildlife.

We also wanted to give a shout out to Animal Control Officer Christopher Sullivan from Wilmington! He received the second most recommendations and we have had the great pleasure of getting to know him. He is a wonderful man and does so much for his town!

Thank you all! It was wonderful to hear such awesome stories about these officers and what they do.

Currently the park is OUT of p**p bags. More will be ordered soon. In the meantime, please bring bags with you when visiting in the park.

The DPW let us know that the parks water is scheduled to be turned on next week on Monday or Tuesday!
