Support and Independence through Teamwork

https://shopsilkworm.com/sitservicedogs

Sit (Support & Independence through Teamwork) trains and places service dogs with people who have physical disabilities. We work from an all encompassing paradigm; a service dog needs to assist their human partner not only through performing daily tasks such as turning on lights, opening doors, or retrieving dropped objects, but needs to provide a level of comfort and social support to their people. Our dogs are trained assist with the daily chores that most mobility dogs perform as well as recognize/respond to withdrawn behaviors, anxiety, and episodic depression. Recipients often report a greater sense of control, confidence, and independence after being partnered with a dog. This means more trips to the movies, out to dinner, shopping, and new adventures!

🐾 From Shawnee Correctional Center to the real world! 🐾

Our SIT and Serve trainers in custody got a front-row seat to watch how their service dogs in training performed during public access outings.🐕‍🦺

The smiles say it all! Seeing their hard work put into action is more than just a proud moment. It's proof that the dedication, patience, and countless hours of training are paying off.
