SIT Service Dogs Support and Independence through Teamwork Recipients often report a greater sense of control, confidence, and independence after being partnered with a dog.

Sit (Support & Independence through Teamwork) trains and places service dogs with people who have physical disabilities. We work from an all encompassing paradigm; a service dog needs to assist their human partner not only through performing daily tasks such as turning on lights, opening doors, or retrieving dropped objects, but needs to provide a level of comfort and social support to their peop

le. Our dogs are trained assist with the daily chores that most mobility dogs perform as well as recognize/respond to withdrawn behaviors, anxiety, and episodic depression. This means more trips to the movies, out to dinner, shopping, and new adventures!

🐾 PAWFFICER SIGHTING IN THE WILD! 🚨

Our trainers were out at O’Fallon District Night when they spotted a very familiar face on duty — Pawfficer Jujube! 💜🐕‍🦺

Of course we had to stop for a reunion, say hello, and grab a picture! And apparently Jujube has officially hit local celebrity status because she even has her own stickers now. 😂

It’s always awesome getting to see one of our Pawfficers out in the community, doing her thing and representing! 💜

Today’s lesson was inside Shawnee. Tomorrow’s lesson is in my ‘own backyard’. Maple’s about to help demonstrate some of the same concepts our Trainers in Custody are teaching every day—just with a little more Winnie-the-Pooh and a little less prison.
