Would you know what to do if your furry friend had a seizure?
Honnas Veterinary wants you to be prepared in the event your pet has an emergency episode! Here are 6 steps to follow if your pet has a seizure:
1️⃣ Stay calm. Take a breath and focus on keeping your pet safe.
2️⃣ Clear the area. Move furniture and nearby objects away to prevent injury.
3️⃣ Don’t restrain your pet. Never hold your pet down during a seizure or put your hands near their mouth.
4️⃣ Time the seizure. Note how long it lasts and record a video if it’s safe to do so.
5️⃣ Call your vet. Contact Honnas Veterinary for guidance. A seizure lasting 5 minutes or longer, or repeated seizures, is an emergency. Seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
6️⃣ Keep me comfortable. After the seizure, I may be confused or disoriented. Keep me in a quiet, safe space and follow your vet’s instructions.
When in doubt, don’t wait it out. If your pet has a seizure, call Honnas Veterinary for help. We’re here for Austin’s pets when they need us most.
