🐾🥫 **Pet Food Alert: What You Need to Know!** 🥫🐾

Did you know that some popular pet foods you find in grocery stores might not be as fresh as you think? 🤔 While they’re marketed as fresh food, many of these options are actually canned and wrapped in plastic, which means they contain preservatives to extend shelf life—definitely not the same as fresh!

Here’s an important tip: stores like HEB have strict policies that prevent employees from checking or changing out these products. This means that expired or old food can sometimes sit on the shelves longer than it should. 🕒 Mold and spoilage can happen, and you might unknowingly be buying food that’s past its prime!

If you want to ensure your furry friend is getting the best nutrition, opt for frozen fresh food options like My Perfect Pet or A Pup Above. These are designed to be frozen and then thawed, ensuring freshness and quality! ❄️🐶

Come on in to our store, and we’d love to give you a sample of these healthier alternatives! Your pet deserves the best! 🥰

Does your vet actually know what’s in the prescription food they are putting your pet on? Just ask you will be surprised. They re just thought push this food.
Just think about this!!!!! While prescription dog foods may be MARKETED as containing medically necessary ingredients, majority do not actually include medicine. Instead, they are typically derived from existing kibble products that may not meet your dog’s nutritional needs adequately.

According to Dr. Karen Becker, a veterinarian specializing in critical cases and nutrition, prescription pet foods do not contain drugs, medicine, or herbs. The term “prescription” is often a marketing strategy, and the ingredients list on the back of the food is usually not significantly different from regular pet food.

It is worth noting that “Prescription Diet” is a trademarked term by Hill’s, the maker of Science Diet. Other manufacturers may label their prescription products as “therapeutic” or “veterinary” diets.

It is advisable to consult your veterinarian to understand what specific ingredients in prescription food may address your pet’s health concerns. For example, prescription food for kidney or bladder issues may contain cranberries and additional salt, which are often considered fillers. In some cases, it may be more cost-effective to purchase high-quality regular pet food and add cranberries separately, rather than opting for prescription food.

Prescription Diet Food is intended for intermittent feeding only and is not recommended for long-term feeding (over 6 months. This is normally stated on the side of the bag.

Ultimately, seeking guidance from your veterinarian and ask QUESTIONS and making informed decisions about your pet’s diet can help ensure their overall well-being.

BIG news for pet parents! 🐾 Starting in 2025, the IRS will allow tax deductions on pet expenses! 🎉 While your furry friend can’t be claimed as a dependent, you can write off certain costs if you meet the criteria. 💰🐶

Eligible deductions may include:
✔️ Veterinary bills
✔️ Food & supplies
✔️ Training classes
✔️ Grooming services
✔️ Transportation costs
✔️ Boarding fees
✔️ Pet insurance

I wonder if my charm is deductible 🤔

Time to put those cuddles to work! Who else is celebrating this tax break?! 🥳🐕💛

Certain pet-related expenses may be deductible under specific circumstances:

1. Service Animals: If your dog is a certified service animal assisting with a diagnosed medical condition, expenses such as veterinary care, food, and training may be deductible as medical expenses.

2. Business Use: If your dog performs a role in your business, such as providing security or pest control, related expenses might be deductible as business expenses.

3. Income-Generating Activities: If your dog participates in activities that generate income, like acting or participating in shows, expenses related to these activities may be deductible.

4. Fostering Animals: If you foster dogs for a qualified nonprofit organization, expenses incurred in caring for these animals may be deductible as charitable contributions.

It’s important to note that these deductions apply only in specific situations and require proper documentation. Consulting with a tax professional is advisable to determine your eligibility for any pet-related tax deductions.

👉🏻Did you know BLOODWORK can differ for raw-fed dogs?

🚨 Here’s something ALL Raw Feeders should be aware of as well as those of you who are new to raw feeding.

📲 Be sure to FILE to refer back to!

✴️👉🏻 If you have a raw-fed dog its important to know that raw-fed dogs bloodwork may differ from the normal expexted ranges that are made for kibble-fed dogs.
✴️👉🏻This is because different diets can cause different blood values, so it’s important to know what’s normal for your dog’s diet.

🩸 Many of the NORMAL RANGES WERE DEVELOPED FOR KIBBLE-FED dogs.

🩸 In fact, it’s commonly thought that a DIFFERENT SET OF “NORMAL” VALUES should be developed for RAW-FED dogs.

🚨👉🏻HERE’S THE ONES TO BE AWARE OF—

🎯 Raw-fed dogs typically have HIGHER BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) because they consume more protein.

🎯 They may also have HIGHER CREATININE (Cr) because of the higher protein content in raw food. Low levels are commonly seen with inadequate protein intake.

🎯 HEMATOCRIT (PVC) Levels can also be HIGHER because dogs are able to better utilize the higher protein levels in raw food.

✴️ Slightly higher🩸blood values are to be expected simply because these indicators are a measure of protein breakdown/metabolism and raw-fed dogs receive a higher % of readily digestible & balanced meat 🥩 protein in their diets!

🎯 Raw-fed dogs tend to have LOWER LDL because raw food contains natural fats and quality protein. Where kibble can contain processed fats & oils, which can lead to higher LDL!

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️👉🏻Vets with an understanding of raw feeding will know what values to look for.

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️👉🏻A Vet that is not experienced with dogs that are fed a raw meaty diet may be alarmed with escalated blood values over normal.

Throwing up is a common thing in pets! Here is what to look out for! If your dog or cat throws up after eating try a slow feeder they may be eating way to quick. Try putting the water down after their food has had time to settle in their tummy.
If they throw up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. Try giving them a treat or two before bed. Dogs and cats who eat Raw food tend to throw up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning because they digest so much of the raw food that they are eating and it does not sit in their system as long as processed foods like kibble. So giving a couple treats before bed will normally take care of it.
If you see blood in the vomit time to call your vet!

Watch how we do a deep clean on our dog wash stations. I wish we could deep clean them in 30 seconds but it takes like an hour and a half. We clean between every dog wash and clean them at night. But on Thursdays and Fridays we get on our hands and knees and clean every inch from top to bottom of each room.

Please for the love of god! When in public keep your dog on a leash. If you have a retractable leash keep your dog next to you and not 10 feet in front of you. Your dog may be ok with other dogs but you do not know if the other dog is reactive. Let’s respect other dogs space while out in public.

We want to share that we have been holding off on implementing this change for some time, but due to our consistently high volume of business, we must ensure fairness for all customers.

Effective today, our policy for dog washes will now include a 45-minute time limit, seven days a week. This adjustment is made in consideration of other customers who also wish to wash their pets, and we believe that a 45-minute time frame is sufficient for most visits. For your reference, many other establishments offer a 30-minute limit.

If you would like to take longer than the allotted 45 minutes, we are happy to accommodate your needs by reserving an additional time slot. Please note that there will be an additional charge for this extra time. Remember, the 45-minute limit is per dog, as our dog wash stations are intended for washing and drying only and are not designed as grooming facilities.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!
