In Istanbul, Turkey, a company called Pugedon developed a vending machine that dispenses dog food for stray animals when people deposit plastic bottles for recycling. According to Bored Panda, the machine serves a dual purpose: it encourages recycling while helping feed the city’s estimated 150,000 stray dogs and cats.

The machine works by using the proceeds from recycled bottles to fund the pet food it dispenses. People drop a bottle into the top of the machine, and food is released into a tray at the bottom for animals to eat. There’s also a water bowl attached, allowing users to pour leftover water for the animals before recycling the bottle.

This eco-friendly initiative not only supports animal welfare but also raises awareness about sustainability and responsible waste management. It’s a clever example of how small actions can make a big impact, both for the environment and for vulnerable animals.

It's not about how friendly they may be.....they really could be.
It's about realising that your amiable, happy go lucky dog can still struggle.
Sometimes, we just expect too much from them.
New environments.
Confronted by the unexpected.
Crowds, heavy traffic and that dog that suddenly just appeared....it can be all a bit much sometimes.

And that's OK!

Even wind can make some dogs far more "antsy" than they usually are.
When there are lots of little changes in a very short period of time....many dogs will struggle.

"Friendly" doesn't always equal OK.

Every day?
You are not alone.....it is a really common issue and done with the best of intentions.
Unfortunately it can intensify this issue.
Not decrease it.

More exercise can just mean a more over stimulated/over aroused dog that cannot calm down unless physically exhausted.

Extremes aren't helpful for these dogs.

Think about scent games, low arousal exercises and teaching them how to settle.

You cannot just stop what you have been doing with these dogs....but you can start to place limits on it while adding in tiring but low arousal activities.
Try adding in food puzzles and scent walks.
Look at other enrichment games that don't necessarily involve heavy and sustained physical activity.

Those low arousal activities have a dual effect.
They calm and tire....in a new way your dog is likely craving.

This alone helps them to rest/sleep more and settle easier.

Running a dog ragged can be unsustainable.
They may always crave more.

It is much more than many people can give.

You are not failing them....you are just learning about the need they may be searching for behind that behaviour.
