๐Ÿพ Three-legged dogs are incredibly adaptable, but that does not mean movement is always easy.

When a dog loses a limb, the rest of the body has to work differently. Over time, that can place extra stress on the remaining legs, spine, and joints.

Rehab helps support strength, balance, mobility, and movement patterns so tripod dogs can stay comfortable and active doing the things they love.

๐Ÿ’ก Pet parent takeaway: Supporting the body early can help reduce strain and improve long-term comfort.

We have a huge soft spot for our tripod pups. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿพ Is your senior dog slowing down more than usual?

It is common for older dogs to move differently as they age, but not every change should be dismissed as โ€œjust getting old.โ€ Difficulty getting up, slower walks, loss of balance, or needing more breaks during activity can all be signs the body needs more support.

Some dogs also become less interested in walks or struggle more with stairs and slippery floors. These changes often happen gradually, which makes them easy to miss at first.

Paying attention to small movement changes early can help dogs stay more comfortable, active, and confident as they age.

๐Ÿ’ก Pet parent tip: You know your dog better than anyone. If something feels different, it is worth paying attention to.

Meet Malbec, the newest member of the ACR Pack ๐Ÿ’œ

Malbec is a 13-year-old Vizsla who joined us after being diagnosed with GOLPP, a progressive condition that can affect both breathing and mobility in senior dogs. Her family started noticing changes in her strength and coordination over the past several months, including slipping on floors, difficulty getting up, missing steps, and becoming less steady on walks. They also noticed she tires more easily and struggles more in the heat.

Our focus is helping Malbec stay comfortable, confident, and safe as we support her mobility and quality of life. Weโ€™re working on improving her strength, balance, and body awareness while helping everyday activities like walking, stairs, and getting around the house feel easier for her.

Malbec is such a sweet girl, and itโ€™s clear how much her family adores her. Weโ€™re honored to support her and help her continue enjoying life with as much comfort and independence as possible. ๐Ÿพ"

๐Ÿพ Strength starts from behind, and Jellybeanโ€™s got it down! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’ช

Backing up is a simple but powerful exercise to help build strength in your dogโ€™s back legs, improve coordination, and support better movement overall. Watch Jellybean show us how itโ€™s done!

Having trouble getting your dog to move straight back? Try this:
โ€ข Practice in a narrow space to prevent turning
โ€ข Change where you hold the treat: at the nose, just below the mouth, or at the chest

โœจ Small adjustments can make a big difference, and this one exercise goes a long way in supporting strength and stability.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Give it a try and let us know how it goes!
