Hi! My name is Wesson! I am the sweetest, most handsome 9-year-old boy that you will meet! I might be older, but don't let that fool you because I have the energy and s***k of a 6-year-old boxer! I haven't met a person or dog that I don't like! I live with 6 other dogs, big and small, and I am a friend to all of them! I have been tested and I am not cat friendly. I am crate trained (I will voice my opinion about it occasionally), house trained, and great with kids! I do have some skin issues which my foster mom believes could be sun damage, but I make up for it with my handsome face and floppy tongue that tends to hang out the side of my mouth! If you are looking for an easy going, loving boy here I am! Contact the rescue today and tell them you would like to meet Wesson because I am waiting to meet you!

BOXER SPOTLIGHT: ROUSEY

Hi! My name is Rousey! I am a beautiful 7 year old girl whose owner passed away and no one left to care for me so I am now a proud member of the rescue! I am residing in a foster home and doing great! I have low energy, but do have occasional bursts of energy and will run and play with the resident boxer to get my energy out. I love to be very close to people and what you would call a "velcro dog". I am house trained, crate trained, leash trained, listens well, plays with toys, enjoys car rides and particularly someone putting me in the car, and lounging on the furniture! I prefer not to be in a crate and my foster mom says that she believes I am trustworthy to be left alone and not be destructive. I am around the foster home's grandkids (ages 4, 11, and 14 years) and usually ignore them. There are two resident cats in my foster home and I am fine with them. I want to play with the younger male and although it took me some time to become friendly with the older female, we get nose to nose now and are fine. I have been around the resident boxer, a cattle dog, and a corgi. I get along with the boxer and am verbal with the cattle dog but we have not had any physical issues. I had exposure to a german shepherd and did not like it, so it's safe to say I am picky with my dog friends and a proper introduction would be best. If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

Rousey was named by Deanna Preece and Hazel Grace in honor of Rousey, a 10 year old sealed boxer girl that lost the use of her legs but persevered with the help of wheel in her later years. She was loved beyond belief by her two moms and will be dearly missed!

A huge Thank you to all our supporters for donating to DFWBR/ABR/LSBR! Your generous support makes a meaningful difference to rescuing boxers throughout Texas, including dogs like our recent save Lilian!

Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day gives us a chance to introduce our organization to a new audience and raise funds to fuel our mission. Your donation on North Texas Giving Day brings us one step closer to reaching our overall fundraising goal for the year!

A huge thank you to our 75 fans who donated; we raised $10,700 during North Texas Giving Day 2025! The money raised will help us keep our intake doors open despite rising veterinary medical costs! We still have some fundraising work ahead of us to reach our goals, so please stay tuned for other ways to help and give, like our upcoming online auction!

Follow us on all our social media to see just how we will put your donation to work and other ways you can support! As always, sharing is caring 😁

Pretzel was pulled from a local shelter in mid January 2025. She was thin and her eyes were a mess. She went to one of our vetting partners and it was determined she had a large eye ulcer on top of cherry eye and entropic eyelids. Pretzel was prescribed eye drops and eye salve three times a day, plus she was put on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. After a few days she started feeling better and wanted to play with the other dogs in her foster home. It was clear Pretzel loves humans and really craves attention. Her foster home described her as quite the love bug.
Pretzel visited an ophthalmology specialist who performed her eye surgery at the beginning of February. She had to wear a cone and take meds and eye ointment for a bit while her eyes healed. Pretzel got her stitches out and was ready for adoption at the end of February. She was able to leave the cone and meds behind and be a regular puppy!
Pretzel found her new dad on March 22nd and they are enjoying their new life together!
Her total vetting was just over $3,000. Donations made during North Texas Giving Day help make happy ever after stories like Pretzel's possible! Donate today so we can continue to help boxers in Texas in 2026!

Give Now! We still owe $33,000 toward our new transport van!
Over the past few years, Austin Boxer Rescue has grown to serve the entire state of Texas and in April of 2021, DFW Boxer Rescue came into existence to serve the DFW metroplex's boxers in need. To manage this large area effectively, we rely on a company vehicle to transport our dogs. This vehicle is essential for taking dogs to adoption events, traveling long distances to rescue dogs from shelters and moving dogs between our different sister cities and the foster homes and vetting partners in each one.
The vehicle we had was a 2007 Ford van with over 300,000 miles on it. It was struggling to keep up with the demands of Texas's scorching summer temperatures. The air conditioning kept breaking, putting our employees and the dogs in our care at risk.
We are raising funds for the new Ford Transit Passenger Van we had to purchase. Our goal for this campaign is $58,000. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a significant difference, and is so appreciated.
We have raised just over $25,000 so far towards our goal. We have a link to a fundraising page that gives more information below. There is also a reel showing the new van. It is so much safer for our dogs and allows us to continue to save boxers in need! Donations made during this year's North Texas Giving Day will help our rescue continue to fund the expenses related to this vital rescue vehicle!

Gummy Bear came to us from a local shelter at the end of June 2025 when he was about 4 months old. He was in bad bad shape. He looked like he had mange, skin infections, goopy eyes, and may have possibly had something chemical poured on him. Gummy Bear went straight from the shelter to one of our vetting partners. The vet determined he did not have mange. Gummy Bear's skin was peeling. He had open wounds and what appeared to be some chemical burns covering his body, as well as, some damage to his eyes. Testing showed he had some corneal abrasions and dermoids. Gummy Bear was prescribed antibiotics and creams and drops and shampoos and pain meds. He was a good patient and healed up well! Gummy Bear had several rechecks along the way and went to an eye specialist to get his eyes checked to make sure there was no lasting damage. Everything finally checked out ok and he was medically released in mid August.
Gummy Bear found his forever family almost immediately and he has three fur siblings and an amazing mom and dad that he gets to spend the rest of his life with!
His medical bills to date have been $615 and he will need to be neutered after he turns 6 months old in September.
We were only able to take in Gummy Bear and get him the immediate care he needed because of donations from fans like YOU! Please donate today, so we can reach our goal of $20,000 and continue to serve the boxer of Texas in 2026!

We found out about a boy that had been wandering as a stray for weeks before animal control was finally able to get him trapped and into the shelter. He came into our care early November 2024 and he had a severe wound to his front foot. We named him Leon and got him to one of our vetting partners immediately. The vet said the bone had some infection, not surprising because it was a pretty old injury, but overall he was doing great. She started him on antibiotics with some Gabapentin and Carprofen for pain, even though Leon really was not acting like the leg wound was bothering him much. The vet team kept it bandaged with daily changes to prevent introducing any new bacteria before Leon was able to have surgery since he was very anemic. Leon was so sweet, they didn't even have to sedate him for any of the wound care they provided him when he came in!
Our vetting partner amputated Leon's leg and neutered him at the same time and then he got to go to his foster home to rest and recover. Leon went in for a recheck and stitch removal 14 days later and was found to be well on the road to recovery ❤️
Leon healed well and found his forever home in time for the holidays. He will be loved and spoiled for the rest of his life!
Leon's vetting ended up being just over $3,100! All his care was 100% possible through the wonderful supporters that donate to our organization, especially during North Texas Giving Day!

North Texas Giving Day is finally here! Please donate today and help us reach our goal of $20,000! Here's why your support is so important!
On February 21st 2025, Dori was pulled from a local shelter and immediately taken to an emergency vet. She needed a blood transfusion, multiple x-rays, multiple medications and needed to stay at the clinic for several nights to receive 24 hour monitoring until we knew that she was stable. She had fluid build up in her chest and abdomen, open wounds and infections on her skin, weighed 20 pounds, and was at death's door from neglect. She began to eat small meals and stabilize over the course of several days.
Dori got to her foster home February 25th and began the good life and her long road to recovery. She continued on special food and weekly check ups that totaled $2,800 in addition to the initial hospital stay that was $9,960. Her total vet care was $12,750!!!
On May 18th, almost 3 full months after coming into care, Dori was fully vetted and was medically released. She is now a whopping chunky monster at 41lbs! That's basically a 20lb weight gain in 3 months with just love, care and food! We can't thank our vetting partners, donors, fans, foster homes, and volunteers enough, they all played a part in Dori's story. We're happy to report Dori has found her furever home and is continuing to be properly loved and spoiled. Now we need our generous supporters to help us refill our coffers so we can continue the unending work of saving boxers throughout Texas in 2026!
