In celebration of Valentine’s Day, here are some safety tips to keep your day as safe and fun as possible: 👇
💐 If someone has a pet or pets, send pet-safe bouquets. When ordering bouquets be sure to specify to remove dangerous flowers. Some dangerous flowers are chamomile, daisies, iris, lilies, etc.
🍫 Keep your pets away from alcohol, chocolates, and candies containing xylitol. These treats can cause many life-threatening conditions for your pets.
🌹 Keep your pets away from roses or other plants containing thorns. Biting, stepping on, or swallowing their sharp, woody spines can cause serious infection if a puncture occurs. Remove the thorns from the roses away from your pets.
Meet Milo! 👋
Milo came to Animal Dermatology Clinic - Indianapolis. Milp had a very rare reaction to the medication we were using to treat his autoimmune disease which was gum overgrowth (or gingival hyperplasia). 😔 Fortunately, we were able to transition him onto another medication without sacrificing control of his disease, and now his gums are looking better! 🤩

Happy National Pet Travel Safety Day! 🐾✈️ Today, we are celebrating by ensuring our furry friends are safe and secure! 🤩 From remembering to never leave your pet in a car to having your pet wear an identification tag. 🏷️
Here are some tips to keep your fluffy companions! 👇
• Buckle up your pet. Secure your cats and dogs in a pet carrier and the carrier should be buckled in. 😺
• Put your pets in the back seat. Modern cars have airbags, putting a larger dog in the front seat can trigger the airbags to deploy which could be very dangerous. 🚗
• Get your pet microchipped. Getting your pets microchipped is a good idea so they can be found if they get lost. During a trip, pets are unfamiliar with their surroundings and it's unlikely they can find their way back if they get lost. 🐾

The practice supervisor, Lauren, brought in her sweet golden retriever to Animal Dermatology Clinic – Indianapolis. 😊 Emmie came into the clinic with an 8mm growth on her face. 😔 We cryo’d the 8mm growth on her face during her visit, hoping that the growth will fall off for the next few weeks. 🙏
Emmie’s growth has fallen off and is healing well since the treatment!

Cavalier King Charles spaniels have several defects that flourish in their breed. Many in the vet industry are aware of the CKCS' potential for heart defects and Macrothrombocytopenia disorders, but not many are familiar with Primary secretory otitis media (or PSOM). PSOM is the process in which a mucus plug forms behind the ear drum, causing pain and discomfort. What happens to your pet during an intradermal allergy test? They take a carefully monitored nap while we inject over 50 allergens into the skin. These allergens are handpicked to reflect what allergens are most common in the central Texas area. After the injections, our Veterinary Dermatologist evaluates the reaction to each allergen and formulates a recipe for your pet's immunotherapy (allergy injections or oral allergy drops). After the reading is complete your pet is woken up and gets a fancy new shirt!
