While you’re enjoying the BBQs, fireworks, and celebrations, don’t forget that the holiday can be stressful for our four-legged family members.

Here are a few quick safety tips:
🎆 Keep pets indoors during fireworks—even confident dogs can become frightened and try to escape.
🏷️ Make sure your pet’s ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
🌭 Skip the table scraps. Foods like onions, grapes, corn cobs, chocolate, alcohol, and xylitol can be dangerous for pets.
🔥 Keep curious noses away from sparklers, fireworks, and hot grills.
🎵 Turn on a TV, fan, or calming music to help mask the sound of fireworks.
Most importantly, give your furry friends a little extra love today.

Bark A Lounge will be closed on Saturday, July 4th so our team can celebrate Independence Day with their family and friends.

Your Dog’s Spa Day Has an Ending! ⏰🐾

Your pup called… they said they’re ready to come home. 😂

We absolutely LOVE spending the day with your furry family members… but once they’re finished, they’re ready to clock out. Here’s why prompt pickup matters:
🐾 Dogs are most relaxed when they can head home after their appointment.
🐾 Staying for hours after they’re done can make them anxious or overstimulated.
🐾 It helps us prepare safely and comfortably for the next pups arriving.
🐾 And let’s be honest… your dog has probably already told us all about you at least three times. 😆

When you receive our “Your dog is ready!” text, we ask that you please pick them up as soon as possible. Think of it this way… You wouldn’t want to finish your haircut and hang out in the salon lobby for three more hours either. 😂

Thank you for helping us keep every pup happy, comfortable, and on schedule. We appreciate you! ❤️🐶

🚨 Let’s Talk About… A**l Glands! 🚨
Yes, we’re going there. 😅

One of the most common questions we get is: “Can you do my dog’s a**l glands?” The answer is yes—we can perform an external a**l gland expression upon request.

But here’s something many pet owners don’t know…
🐾 Healthy dogs usually express their a**l glands naturally when they have a bowel movement.
🐾 Routinely expressing them when it’s not necessary may actually cause irritation or make them more dependent on manual expression over time.
🐾 Groomers can only perform an external expression, which may not completely empty the glands.
🐾 If your dog is scooting, excessively licking their rear, or has a strong fishy odor, it could indicate an impaction or infection that should be evaluated by your veterinarian.

Our goal is always to do what’s best for your pet—not just what’s requested. So while we’re happy to perform an external a**l gland expression if you’d like, we generally recommend discussing recurring a**l gland issues with your veterinarian to address the underlying cause.

We’ll take care of the fluff… and leave the medical stuff to the pros. ❤️🐾
