The City of Aurora Animal Control & Care mission is to ensure the humane care and treatment of animals handled by the division; and to educate the public on proper pet care, animal safety, pet overpopulation, and responsible pet ownership. Our facility operates a shelter for stray and owner relinquished animals and adopts unwanted animals to responsible owners. Animal Viewing Hours

Our adoption fees:
Kittens (under 6 mo): $125 (two kittens $200)
Cats (6 mo-6 yrs): $75 (bonded pair $100)
Senior Cats (7+ yrs): $50 (bonded pair of senior cats $50)
Puppy (under 6 mo): $200
Dogs (6 mo-6 yrs): $150 (bonded pair $150)
Senior Dogs (7+ yrs): $100 (bonded pair of senior dogs $100)
Ferret, Rabbit, Parrot: $50
Guinea Pig, Rats, Cockatiel, Medium bird: $25
Hamster, Gerbil, Mouse, Small bird: $15

Congratulations to all the wonderful animals who left the shelter last week!✨
3 animals were adopted!
🐾 3 dogs were adopted
🏡 8 dogs and 1 cat were reunited with their loving families
🚗 5 cats and 2 dog were transferred to rescue partners
Weekly WOW: REMINDER! We are upgrading our shelter software this week! Please be patient with us while we learn. There will be no adoption hours Monday 4/21 or Tuesday 4/22 while staff trains. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements!

📣 IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT 📣
AACC is upgrading our shelter software!
Our staff will be attending training this week for the change over. Please be patient as we learn, some tasks may take longer as we get used to this software. That being said, shelter hours will be adjusted slightly to accommodate training.
Monday, 4/21 - No adoption hours
Tuesday, 4/22 - No adoption hours
The rest of the week may be subject to change depending on the needs of the shelter. Individuals will still be able to reclaim their animals and access other AACC services during this time.
This upgrade will not only benefit our daily operations, but will offer perks for our community as well! Please stay tuned for more details.

Meet Gamora—also known as Gammie, Gremlin, Jimmy, and “No Toes!” 😆 With her extra thumbs, endless sass, and a personality bigger than life, she’s the ruler of her chaotic kingdom! Whether she’s chewing on shoes, attacking toes, stealing plates, or pretending to be a dog, one thing is for sure—she was meant to be part of this family. And despite her mischievous ways, she gives the best snuggles and adores her wild toddler sibling. ❤️

A huge thank you to her adopters for embracing her quirks and giving her the loving home where she thrives. She’s proof that sometimes, the pet we never knew we needed is the one that makes our home complete.
