Stellar Farms & Stockdogs

Stellar Farms & Stockdogs Stellar Cattle Dogs firmly believe in working dogs that can be great family dogs too! Our dogs are AKC registered, health tested, and herding instinct tested.

Stellar Cattle Dogs work hard and love their jobs! We use our dogs on the farm almost daily. They are our companions as well as our workers. All of our dogs work with a lot of natural ability and live for making us happy! We believe in health testing and doing everything we can to better the breed. Our dogs are tested for hip dysplacia, PRCD, and are BAER tested. Come on by and check us out! We love talking about dogs and showing ours off.

Clinic prep has officially begun! We host Billie Richardson every October. It's a weekend filled with deep conversations, lots of laughter, good food, and lots of dog work! We love it and we like to have our place looking as good as we can and for things to go as smoothly as possible. Spraying the weeds so we are walking through stickers is at the top of the list. There is a big project to complete every year. Last year was getting the shop closed in and having electricity done. This year, Trent is building me new sheep holding pens! I will have over twice the number of pens that I have now. These will double as lambing pens come spring. I'll post progress as we go along!

Flints first time working stock off of a four wheeler. It started a little rough. I kept having to get off to reinforce my commands. It didn't take long for it to click with him that it's the same as me being on the ground. I ended the session after this to end on a high note.

Just some sheep and goat work. Checking FAMANCHAS. 'What is that', you wonder? A FAMANCHA score is simply a grading system for the color of the animals pigmentation of the eyelid to check for anemia to determine parasite load and whether to deworm or not.
Flint is about as handy as it gets. And yes, sometimes your livestock have to travel through your yard 🤣

I hate myself on video hahaha! But here y'all go. People are always interested in how I feed my dogs when they see a picture of it. It's a process that starts from the time that they are puppies. I'll try to remember to get a video of adding in a puppy next time I have one.

Shortly before weaning, I got the F1 Australian White families up and got pictures of them. I want people to see the ewes that these lambs are out of. All lambs are sired by Big Shot at Peace Valley Farms. I will put info on each picture. There are two pics of each family. All were twins or triplets. We did have a couple of losses due to the hail storm. I also forgot to do pics of the two bottle babies. All but two of the ewes that they are out of are registered Katahdins. One ewe is registerable but... paperwork :P
These guys kept up with our Katahdin lambs, even being 2.5-3 weeks younger. And the MEAT on these guys. Its a difference that you can really feel, if you get your hands on them.
Rams are available now off the farm and ewe lambs will be consigned to The Legacy Sale, in September, in Springfield.

This is what hard work looks like! 💪
Our green beans we planted did not come up. At all. You can imagine the disappointment. Luckily, family came through and had an abundance that they were willing to share. I picked 1.5 hours Thursday and Trent and I picked together for an hour today. Kaysee ate as many as she picked. It's SO much work, but it's SO rewarding, knowing where your food is coming from. I'm making Dilly beans tomorrow!
